What does reporting mean? Evidence that will hold up in a court of law? Third hand gossip, a gut feeling, tittle tattle at the photocopier? Staff room chatter? And what protections for those who report in good faith but who get it wrong or are sacked? Who do you report it to, social services, the police? They are the ones who did nothing for so long.The government is going to introduce mandatory reporting with criminal sanctions for failure.
What are the arguments against it? The last government wanted to water it down. Presumably there were some legitimate concerns?
