I always thought Tony Blair had a very good instinct about just how far to the left the UK people were willing to go. The Iraq war was a disaster, not just for the obvious reasons, but because it destroyed his authority to rein in Gordon Brown's worst excesses. If it wasn't for that, he could have sacked Brown and his cronies in the middle of the second term. I think that would all have led to a much happier country than we have today.

New Labour was a good period but it wasn’t great…..unless compared to last 13 years.

New Labour was far too neo liberal, PFIs and commodification of education.

No planes full of migrants are going to be taking off to any country, let alone Rwanda. Anyone who thinks this scheme will get off the ground (pardon the pun) are deluded.

And migrant situation aside, I feel very uneasy about our government trying to tweak legislation to say something's so when many others would beg to differ. That could be the thin edge of a very dangerous wedge ...

Youve done the usual dishonest debating technique of taking one specific point, but if you look at her comments in the round, they add up to a cohesive argument.

They do not take (accept) more than the UK. You do understand that? The rejection rate is 75% vs 30%

Her point would have been valid has she said:

"France received three times as many33% more asylum applications as us last year."

She could also have said
"The UK accepted twice as many asylum applications as France last year."


But she didn't. Its not as catchy as saying 3 X more - which is wrong.

public services are broken, yet Jeremy Hunt has put through a budget making £18b of budget cuts

oh and then there’s the £70 b of tax rises put through by this govt…covering until end of decade

All been documented on here over the weeks and months notchy, not good that relations between France and Germany have turned frosty apart from the weather.
Far right parties on the rise and gaining prominence in Holland and France threatening to close their borders because of the rising tide in 'boat people' arriving in Italy where they too have voted in the far right because their people have had enough and moving them on, France being a benefactor.
As for living standards, they too like Britain are suffering because their people have had the scam of covid and climate change put on them by politicians having their hands tied by outside influences.
