Someone is trying to start a war in the Ukraine, It's NOT Russia (edit: yes it is)

Russia has experience of long campaigns recently. I can't see them running out of much. Reportedly it's estimated they have a couple of thousand more than the 600 ish long range missiles they've used. I would keep plodding away until I'd destroyed all the strategic military hardware, including any aircraft.
They can't clear out all the anti-tank missiles but they can hit any supplies once they're in the country, so when the ports are taken and airstrips are disabled or watched, that's easy. Then keep bombing towns until what's left of the Ukraine gov promises to never rearm

yeah but military strategic experts are saying Russia doesn’t have the numbers on the ground to take over Kyiv yet alone all the cities - it can only keep bombing them from a distance.

It requires massive strategic supply chains with fully operational equipment

Don’t forget Ukraine is constantly being fed weapons - hand held anti tank missiles, these are very effective against Russian tanks etc.

Well this was a surprise

Not just that and everyone knows its nigh impossible to manage a country of that side that does not want to be ruled by an evile man whos hands are tied to an extent, thankfully.

Even his Generals are turning against him.

Depends how they go about "take over". They could disable all the water and power supplies like in Mariupol. They'll soon be able to cut off maritime activity. Moldova's too scared to allow transit, and the other roads can have 50ft craters in them. Russian missiles through a couple of convoys would put off further drivers.

I saw the Russian News protester - go Mariana! Though she won't be going anywhere...

They don't need to be managed.

They can starve, if they don't want to give in. Simples. They must be nazi scum so they don't matter.
Klitshchko (Kyiv mayor) has bragged:
"We have right now electricity, heating, gas, we have water," he added, speaking in English."
Bang, bang, bang bang, and that's not the case, he has instead, half a million people dying. Let them drink the river.

For someone comtemplating nuclear weapons, those buttons are nothing.

The people can go to Russia - the decent, Russophile non-nazis. What's the figure for those now - 150k? Funny it never gets mentioned here. Bet it is there.
Generals - those are mere employees.

On TV they speak of not winning hearts and minds in Ukraine. Why should Putin care?

His mission is, very likely, to build a legacy of creating the third Russian Reich Empire.

Losers don't write the history.

That's the part that concerns me. More difficult for refugees. The other one is when the defensive arms were supplied to "increase Russia's costs". Might just have been a slip of the tongue but it doesn't indicate a win. The west have been training them for 8years.

The distance of the far west Ukraine base from the Polish boarder seems to vary according to who reports it.

A tank has been shown in action - no sign of missiles hitting it. Video a bit strange as well. Clearly aiming at something straight in front of it and low. Later scenes showed otherwise. Another tanks or what?

Mariupol mayor kidnapped ( twice? ) By who from where. It's a city that Russia seems to really want. I wish the drone had flown around more. One video showed mortars being used. If against the Russian they will leave a right old mess. Today footage of Ukraine using them.

The Russians use a lightweight small drone for surveillance. There was a shot of a Ukrainian holding one that he had shot down.

Any ex USSR state will have their kit kicking around.

That must be why Nazi Germany was unable to invade and occupy Poland, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Norway, Yugoslavia, Greece, Netherlands, Belgium and France.

And still went for North Africa and had a go at the Soviet Union.

Ooops, did I say "unable?"

I meant "able"

And the Soviet Empire (that Putin wants to recreate) only subjugated Eastern and Central Europe for forty-five years.

President Zelensky has made another demand for Russians to surrender as the encirclement of his capital moves closer and missiles begin to hit the outer suburbs.
It's nice to see he hasn't lost his sense of humour.

The Mariupol evacuation worked yesterday. Suggests both sides feel that a cease fire doesn't have any consequences for them now.

Various east european presidents visiting Kiev shortly. This has been known to halt Russian attacks elsewhere for at least a while.

My view on it all is now mostly is that Putin expected some give before this happened. None at all so backed into a corner. NATO is currently showing member states in the general area that they will be protected. What else Putin may be up to pass but some do understand why Russia sees NATO as an enemy. They have made several lets be friends attempts over many years. It seems the no NATO in E Europe can be read in the Library Of Congress - Pass. Maybe Putin does want to get the USSR back.

This all doesn't have that much direct effect on the USA. There has been a claim of loads of Russian money in Wall St one way or another and nothing being done about it. Not clear where the report came from.

More sanctions from the EU but to be honest I can't see how the exports they are banning could be paid for. Same with the USA really.

An ex French NATO director pointed out that the only reason Russia exists is the nukes. ;) Interesting view.

The WFP trying to feed 270,000,000 people have had to cut the rations they hand out by 50% and is wondering how they will handle Ukraine if needed. He commented that the future problems with food prices and availability is likely to cause serious problems in areas that import Ukrainian and Russian stuff. This sort of problem usually causes political problems in counties that are affected. Yet more trouble in other words.

AlJ have a program they call Witness. Film maker in Ukraine between 2015 and 2017 in village loosely north of Mariupol. .Soldiers had been there and fighting by both sides clearly going on. Looks like the fighting was more wide spread than people realise.

Russia currently talking to Iran about the nuclear deal. From odd bits I have heard Russia was directly involved and agreed by all. Russia seemed to question if their part was possible following the sanctions. The sticking point is now purely the USA according to an analyst as it involves going back to deal similar to the one Trump blocked.

USA seems to be trying to do an oil deal with Venezuela that has a president they don't like etc so sanctioned. It seems that a lot have been moving out of the country from odd bits on the news so things are not good there.

USA China relationship is sounding very frail. It seems Russia has money in China's bank. The 2 countries work together in some ways. Neither are fond of the USA politics.

Another meet with Zelensky. Some northern group of countries, some in NATO some not plus Boris. Zelensky mentions the usual wants admiting it difficult. Boris come back that's correct we must do something. I don't suppose there is an agenda that hasn't been widely considered.
