The media is claiming well over 1k Russian troops killed. Not sure if true but sad all the same as most of them have no choice but follow orders or be shot. The generals in the Russian armed forces credit to them for just targetting armed services

It depends on Russia's intentions which as been said many times no one knows what those are. What seems to be expected is Kiev finding itself in a siege. Even being surrounded with tanks doesn't mean they will be used there. If Russian tactics work out some Ukrainian soldiers will find themselves cut off, What happens then is up to them.

Occupation looks tricky without one hell of a mess unless the Ukraine gives up ie unconditional surrender. Fighting in built up areas is always messy.

NATO might agree that Ukraine will never join NATO, Not much chance of that or the Ukraine president might agree that, Result - no one knows.

Things might go no where and Russia withdraw maybe annexing some of Ukraine. The west will crow. NATO will declare any annexes as illegal.

Military people reckon that the Russians do not have enough troops engaged to occupy but on the other hand don't seem to understand why they aren't taking on "residential" areas. Resistance is mentioned but a number of missiles etc would probably fix that so I'd be inclined to feel that they don't want to do that.

There's certainly no sign of Ukraine throwing in the towel at the moment, I think Putin was expecting less resistance.

The Ukrainians have requested that they do something or the other in the sea but then they would be attacking Russia who they are said to have good relations with.

as I under stand it it go’s back to some treaty were bye the Turks police the water ways

the Turks have a strange ?? Relationship with Russia

they are in opposing sides in syria and Libya

shot down a Russian fighter jet

but also bought an air defence system from them

and supplied military drones to the Ukraine
