Sue Gray

Not a great move for Starmer, up until that point Grayling was seen as independent and her inquiry had credibility. Now that she has gone political, it makes a mockery of the whole thing. A big waste of tax payers money.

It also smacks of arrogance on behalf of Starmer, as if he has already landed the job of PM and is setting up his team.
Didn't Boris agree with the results of her inquiry ?

If so the rest of your point is, erm pointless

Imagine you went to the county court to fight a claim and lost only to find out the judge was mates with the other side. You may well have thought the judgement was fair, but you might have another think once that new info came to light.

He's definitely unique in that department. Renowned as a pathological and unashamed liar, Boris's olympic standard lying had him sacked from two jobs and the laughing stock of the international community. Brexit - one of his biggest whoppers to date, is testimony to Tory acceptance of bullshizzle and lies.

Johnson has done a great deal of harm to our parliament -he set a new acceptance for lying and using the weak parliamentary system to get away with it...thankfully justice just about prevailed and he got the boot eventually.

If you knew the result was wrong you wouldn't agree to it, regardless

What new info? He made the rules, which he then broke. There iare even phitos of him breaking the rules. Ergo your analogy is based on just what? That no offences took place? That Bozo wasn't fined by the Met? (Which investgation was not based on the Gray report) And there was me thinking thstv the Law applied to the rich and powerful in the same way it does to the rest of us

Fair point imo

Not starmers best move but hey ho

As for buffoon Johnson all this caper about drinks and sausage rolls during lock down is imo
Neither here nor there

The biscuit as far as I am concerned is having a booze up party (?) the day before the queen buried her husband

The queen who sat alone in the church distancing her self

For that reason johnson should get a kick up the arris and slung out of parliament

Depends on whether the facts were slam-dunk, or not.

What's the phrase I'm looking for? Oh, yes: "don't shoot the messenger"

But they never are [a slam dunk]. A twist here or a turn there and things can be presented differently. I've been up before judges and got a thorough grilling only to end up winning. It's all to make the other side feel the hearing was fair, so they don't appeal. They wouldn't feel justice was served if I went for a beer with Judge afterwards or hired him.

People can question the impartiality of her report, because it turns out, she was a supporter of the opposition. If that wasn't the case, she would not have accepted a political position. It doesn't matter if the report was or was not impartial.

Why? She's ideal for the position given her experience.

Tory of course will make noises. Boris's latest following this i there is no proof etc by the interim report from the enquirey doesn't sound like it will be very good for him and could turn out to politicly fatal. The other Tory - stinking fish, her enquiry rigged etc. That does not fit in with their own previous opinion of her.

Since the Chief of Staff is at the centre of the Downing Street operation, he or she will always be influential and closely involved in government policy formulation and implementation, political strategy and communication, and generally advising the Prime Minister.
He is certainly playing to his core support but he has their vote already. Not sure it's going to win back the red wall vote, if they even know who she is. Maybe he thinks people will believe she lends a moral authority to his team? Remember Martin Bell?

Blup

Rubbish

Who was she appointed by? How long has she been known? Her history regarding subjects like this and other stuff must have been up to a standard to have been appointed.

Some of the facts were without doubt, and investigated by police, and a fine issued I believe.

It is just clutching at straws now to consider her "biased" and changes none of the facts. Take off the blinkers and accept what Boris did, to himself, his country and all of us. She didn't hammer the Tories, just those responsible under the remit of the investigation.

Borisites casting wildly about for some way of excusing his appalling behaviour.
