The american view that it is no longer the worlds policeman is bad news for the rest of the free world, but yanks tend to think of themselves first and believed trumpf is better on the economy and immigration than the dems. So self interest from a few million voters in a handful of swing states swung it. Also millions of african americans deserted the dems since O’bamas landslide, because they felt he did little for them.exactly how bad must the opposition have been???
according to NBC exit polls, Trump led Harris in that demographic 54%-44%. Meanwhile, 59% of white men voted for Trump, and 52% of white women. A whopping 92% of black women voted for Harris, compared to about 80% of black men.

A broader pundit view is that while Biden had maintained USA's economic performance the effects were not noticeable to a lot of the public. Inflation and higher cost of living figured in voting decisions. Immigration as well.
Biden also introduced a number of bills that evolved into the Inflation Reduction Act. It didn't but may have done long term. One of it's actions was to increase the size of their IRS to get at back tax off their super rich. Best read about it but there was probably plenty of discussion about it on their media. Right name but didn't. Republicans all voted against it.
