Trump is talking sense

With Trump it's all about ego. Of course the mids don't affect the remainder of his term, however the wider party and whoever is eyeing up his position will watch them with interest in terms of life beyond 2029. As will Trump because of the aforementioned. If the mids indicate the electorate aren't happy with the first half, it can influence changes during the second.
It'd merely mean he becomes a 'lame duck' president, which will do wonders for his mood, i'm sure, when his proposals are shot down in the Senate. His second term will be dominated by power struggles for who succeeds him, assuming the SC shoots down his amendment to extend his presidency.

It would be a constitutional crisis to rivel secession - Bush baby in his second term 'joked' how it would make things so much easier but as we can now see, the Republicans aren't kidding around.

Anything seems possible at the moment. We are in for a roller coaster these next four years!

Vance vs Rubio?

Indeed.

Vance vs Rubio?

Probably - although Rubio may've risen as far as he's likely to get - the MAGA base prefer fresh meat and Vance will feed it too them raw.

Why is it that posters who outwardly despise Trump cannot keep away from threads designated to talk about him in a positive light? Answer: they are trolling.
“Threads designated to talk about Trump in a positive light”……you mean MAGA propaganda.

If you want an echo chamber, you are welcome to go back to the festering cesspit that is twitter

As regards the US domestic stuff, I actually feel we are in a privileged position to be able to watch all this play out from a distance, without it actually affecting us. I am particularly interested in the constitutional aspects. Obviously, there are also the international consequences to worry about. Rubio has actually been better than I thought!

Go away and don't get involved in something that has nothing to do with you. Keep your nose clean (y) It's not your argument.
Which bit of public don't you get?

Either chunter to yourself, or make sure the forum you pick has like-minded folk frequenting it. Then you won't get pesky people disagreeing with you.

It seems to me that your definition of troll is anyone who disagrees with you.

Unfortunately, if you spout rubbish on a public forum, other people are likely to disagree with you.

TBH, I am as confused as you.

For almost two weeks, this thread has been the main general thread discussing Trump. With lots of contributions from both sides.

Now the pro Trump brigade seem to want to cancel any real discussion.

Why don't you go away and have your argument somewhere private and leave this public forum for public forum discussions?

Are you still supportive of Trump or are you having second thoughts? You were very pro him previously. It's not a trick question, I'm just confused about where you now stand.
I am supportive of much he is trying to achieve, note the key word there is trying. The extent to which he'll succeed remains to be seen.

I also find his approach interesting i.e. calculated strategy of a near genius or making it up as he goes along. That's rhetorical on my part, not wanting to get into yet another lengthy debate on that one from the Trump haters ;)

What's wrong with wanting ones homeland to be great?

Look at the UK? Whilst still a decent place to live (hence why the illegals flock here) parts of it are now a disgrace. And, as with other EU countries, we've allowed our defences etc to be decimated. As for things like our energy policy ...

Oh it affects us, trust me.
