Yep, that'll all help keep the lights on ...Plenty of manufacturing where I live, electronics, shipbuilding, engineering, paper, furniture, although the steelworks went (thanks Maggie) and clothing & shoe making went East

Starmer speaking at the Scottish Labour conference mentioned something about a new industrial strategy.
Maybe they'll realise we should never have done away with our industrial base in the first place!!!
You couldn't make this sh1t up.
Ok forgot to mention, High voltage switching & transformers, two onshore Gas terminals, one of the biggest wind farms in EuropeYep, that'll all help keep the lights on ...
So we're not reliant on other countries to keep the proverbial lights on?Ok forgot to mention, High voltage switching & transformers, two onshore Gas terminals, one of the biggest wind farms in Europe
Dunno I expect all European countries are interconnectedSo we're not reliant on other countries to keep the proverbial lights on?
Conservatives govt refused to support EUs anti dumping restrictions against China.I'm referring to the foundation stuff, steel, energy etc.
China have been increasing their investment in Mexico factories.Meanwhile Trumpf demands that Mexico puts tariffs on Chineese imports. Is he losing it?
Mexico threatened with tariffs unless they put tariffs on Chinese goods. Bullies gotta bully...Meanwhile Trumpf demands that Mexico puts tariffs on Chineese imports. Is he losing it?
Again, when I say the UK has depleted its industrial base (the important stuff, not a company in Britstol making shoes) I'm not directing the blame at any one party, they're all guilty of letting it happen.Conservatives govt refused to support EUs anti dumping restrictions against China.
Energy…..well we know what happens when you privatise everything and it ends up in the hands of foreign sovereign wealth funds.
Nuclear for example….No new nuclear power stations have been ordered since the privatisation of the Central Electricity Generating Board in 1990.
Water for example….There is a direct link between the 1989 privatisation of water companies in the UK and the ceasing of new reservoirs being built
I am by no means an ideological believer in state ownership, there are other models, but the pure for profit privatisation model doesn’t work
Thatcher mostly though?Again, when I say the UK has depleted its industrial base (the important stuff, not a company in Britstol making shoes) I'm not directing the blame at any one party, they're all guilty of letting it happen.
For all the rights and wrongs of Thatcher, jeez could we could with a leader like her in power right now.P
Thatcher mostly though?
