It was the expansion of the EU and NATO into these former Soviet state's which is causing an existential threat to the Russian state.
Fair enough, if the EU and other interests want expand their portfolio of client states in Eastern Europe and beyond, then they should be honest and admit that their objectives will only be achieved by the use of military conflict.

There are indications that Russia isn't to bothered about ex soviet joining the EU. That comes from Georgia wanting to and also retain ties with Russia. Recent happenings may well have messed that wish up. It was discussed a bit rather recently. AlJ the only one that tends to have a look at what is going on all over the place.

Additionally there are demo's in one E European country where their left and right have joined forces. You can guess over what - power. Power and fuel problems are cropping up all over the place. The EU reckon they are sorted over this winter with gas and are talking about next spring when reserves will have gone. Germany has done the same as the UK.
