Ukraine failed to uphold the agreements of Minsk(2) wrt Donbas area, and was accused of all sorts of cluster bombing etc.
But Pootn kept feeding the pro-Russians in the area with arms. It's not crystal clear but between the sham referenda and independent sampling it appears that a good majority wanted to remain part of Ukraine, though with local govt.. Something like 25-30% wanted to be annexed by Russia, in effect.
I suppose some sort of UN monitored referendum may have helped. About as much chance as in Northern Ireland, though

Meeting between the two sides to resume tomorrow. I just hope the Ukrainian leader does stop ranting on tv and stick to the facts as ranting helps no one.

Bottom lines - Russia is gaining the upper hand as expected by going down their usal route ie destroy everything so time to make comprimises more than just not joining nATO. For better or worse ceasefire will save lives on both sides and imo most of the russian troops do not want to be there but have little choice in the matter.

yes, re ceasefire I've said it before. Re Wagner group, don't believe everything you read.
I've seen vidoes of the non-putin side which were delted and its not nice in war you get nasties on both sides and more
worrying you get third parties that deposit both of those at war and are pretend friends but send in instigators to make the fighting worse.
If there is a bio attack, I'm sure it won't be putins lot or the Ukrainian lot but some ****-stirring little pretend friend ****s.

Part of Ukraine under a different name was ruled by a european "empire". There has been independent republics of both east and west Ukraine, They even united at one point.
I have read that the Brits and French drove Russia out of Crimea. While people might think things that happened long ago don't matter now afraid they often do. Try speaking to some in S Ireland.

"Independent" sampling suggested that remain would win the 2016 referendum in the UK.

The press is almost on a daily babsis showing videos of PoW, Russian soldiers slagging off their motherland/putin and thair commanders. Where its a fact or not is important what is important is the Genvea Convention that clearly states no PoW's will be displayed in public.
How do we know they are not being coerced?? No soldeir in their right mind would volunteer to say that as all will have family back in Russia.
