Vive La France!

Feminist groups are lobbying for decriminalisation of bortion claiming it's "their body, their right". I posted a link waaaaay back in the thread. Basically, they want to take medical opinion out of the loop and buy abortion pills as they would birth control.
I don’t believe there is that much interest in this, these are fringe groups.

I do think there should be counselling offered, which is not the case currently with NHS GPs. Seems odd counselling is available at abortion clinics, not GPs

I'm pretty sure I know which laws are England and Wales only. But this is nothing to do with the construction of the laws. It was a deliberate choice by Westminster to have different rules for Northern Ireland. That is what I find odd. I am obviously aware of the divergence between 1967 and 2019!
The abortion act was never enacted for Northern Ireland - that is the point.

I know. And what I found odd is that when they came to update that situation, in 2019, why didn't they just give Northern Ireland the same rights. Why make it easier (in theory) to access abortion. Termination of pregnancy is available without conditionality up to 12 weeks. Then from 12 to 24 weeks the rules mirror the rest of the UK. Maybe it was a practical point. Maybe there were anticipating push back and not enough doctors being prepared to sign forms or something like that. The small amount of information I have been able to find suggests that, so far, it is not so easy in practice.

So not a certificate of opinion then - how odd.
It doesn’t matter what it’s called.

If it doesn’t get signed, the abortion doesn’t go ahead.

No sign
No approval
No abortion

You still have not accepted there are 2 meanings of approval, when you do all will become clear to you.

Of course the abortion can be carried out before the HSA1. The legislation specifically addresses the scenario. Further the legal exemption has nothing to do with HSA1. This really isn’t complicated.

Isn’t it about time you posted your parliamentary report again?

Next time you sign a contract - don’t worry too much about the words, they don’t matter.

I never said that. I'm merely stating what many other distinguished bodies refer to it as, i.e. HSA forms Department of Health forms: HSA 1 is to give notification that the abortion has been approved and on what grounds.

You have yet to show why you (one person) think you are right and so many other people are wrong. Read through pages 103/4 and tell us why all those folk are wrong to refer to it as approval (he cant, he wont).

The above bold type is copied and pasted from the 12th Parliamentary report glossary.

Before what? Before the doctors approve? Before it is signed and dated by two doctors and sent to the relevant bodies? No, it cant. It can however be retrospectively corrected for mistakes.
