Vive La France!

However,as MBK points out, the law as it stands is adequate for legal terminations under 24 weeks after medical advice signed off by two doctors who approve the procedure. Changing the law to extend this period endangers the life of an unborn child.
I personally feel 24 weeks is a long way in. Mostly irrelevant. A vast majority of abortions are carried out much earlier. Late term are very rare. Usually when abnormalities occur etc.

The problem is - we still don't know what you wanted to change when you started this thread
As I explained a trillion times...
I championed the French and their deliberate stance against the right wing idiots in the USA. I wish the UK would offer a similar 'gesture'.

But there have been a few late terminations post 24 weeks with questionable justification. e.g. clef pallet. which is a bit sad. But still no crime under the criteria. As I said the bar is very low.

On the BPAS campaign. It's very misleading. Only 4 woman have been convicted of illegal abortion in the last 20 years. and I'm pretty sure the old dears in the pictures have nothing to worry about.

Step forth Sir Keir...:D
To Pull this off.
He needs to create constitutional laws that cannot be amended by parliament without a referendum. I can think of another situation you'd not be happy about if that happened.

so just some virtue signalling then?

There is no doubt that the Bible Belt has a strong influence on US abortion law, but we have many against abortion on the left in the UK and plenty of our own religious extremists on the left.

MBK is still in denial and is still has a poor grasp of UK law.

Just because the word "law" is in there, MBK likes to think they're the Oracle on all things to do with it.
Like a ortho consultant lecturing on cochlear implant surgery.

And that's before we get to interpretation of each law, which is supported by ACoP, guidance, best practice notes, etc etc etc..............the knowledge even of the existence of which is a specialism in itself.

I think this campaign has been fuelled by left-wing feminists who want to 'take back control' of their bodies and use abortion pills as birth control wih no medical advice necessary. A dangerous approach that risks all kinds of complications, and a motivation for religious groups to march.

Plenty, hmm. The overwhelming majority of folk in the UK are pro-abortion. Plenty does not really cut it. In fact, a majority of folk are for abortion in the US. Didn't you know?

If true, what's your worry?

Sounds like there is no problem to fix.

I think the majority of people in both countries are ignorant of the entire matter.
