Vive La France!

No idea why the French are getting all the credit, either...

The upcoming amendment vote will only impact England and Wales, Northern Ireland has already decriminalised abortion after a vote back in 2019
. McCudden says she is hopeful that Scottish Parliament is having similar discussions to those happening in England and Wales – there are certainly campaigners on the ground petitioning them to do so.

...Ulster beat 'em to it.

My reading of his posts is that he is applauding the French gesture - two fingers up to the geriatric f@rts and religious fruitcakes across the pond - which is different to what you've just posted.

We should have a referendum...

No in this thread he went on to champion the French setup as being better than the UK, it isn't

He may not know, but in France you must consult with your doctor before being considered. She must be in a "state of distress" because of her pregnancy. She then has to wait 1 week before she can apply. This application must be in writing and only then, if approved by the doctor will she be referred to a clinic.

In the UK a woman can get an abortion in 2 weeks or less and as has been established no doctor is required to approve that it is the right course of action. Just give their opinion that its within the legal criteria
- they have plenty of time to decide - 10 weeks more than in France
- it is entirely free and all complications are covered on the NHS, not so in France
- only 4 conviction for illegal abortion in 20 years, over 200,000 done every year without any problems

The political virtue signalling from Macron, doesn't appear to be making abortion easier to access in France

Which is different - again - from what you posted
No he said he wanted it in the constitution like France, so that right wing idiots cannot change it. He said they could try but they'd stand no chance.

However,as MBK points out, the law as it stands is adequate for legal terminations under 24 weeks after medical advice signed off by two doctors who approve the procedure. Changing the law to extend this period endangers the life of an unborn child.
But that's the very bit he keeps arguing about.

Simply can a woman gave an abortion without a doctor, let alone 2, approving it.

Read section 3a and 3d of the abortion act.

If the pregnant woman’s usual place of residence is in England or Wales and she has had a consultation (in person, by telephone or by electronic means) with a registered medical practitioner, registered nurse or registered midwife about the termination of the pregnancy, the medicine may be self-administered by the pregnant woman at that place.
