Vive La France!

It explicitly states they must approve, does it?
Irrelevant. The Act wording says little and means much.

The doctors approval role is important, explicit and has legal consequences. They give their opinion, sign and date the HSA1 form and in doing so give their approval for abortion to go ahead. If this is not done or not carried out in good faith, then the abortion could be unlawful. The two doctors must approve, yes.

MBK is desperately trying to justify his initial reaction to my post, when I first brought it to his attention (post #432). I doubt he realised it was in the Abortion Act at the time, as he was blathering on about self referral, which is something that happens way before two doctors approve the abortion. He mistakenly believed this could bypass the approval, dunno...?

I guess he's just embarrassed.
Post 432 you say. Funny how I provided a link to the act in post 285.

Forgive me for not treating Glamour Magazine as a legal reference.

Here is the UK Law for you

You'll note that your quoted text is incomplete. See sec 1 - a-d. and the word OR is used quite a bit.

I can see why you were getting upset now, you didn't understand the current position in the UK.

But you said it explicitly states they must approve.

Where does it say this.

Or maybe it doesn’t.

What do you think is the point of the two doctors opinion in terms of the law and the Act? You keep mentioning it.
That’s very easy to answer. You just read the declaration on the certificate of opinion.

They are required to form an opinion in good faith that the abortion meets the lawful criteria for legal exemption. Nothing more.

In terms of whether at the end of the two doctors consultation process and their ultimate approval - yes.
Why do you think there is a consultation process by two doctors ? Nothing in the act says they are required to examine or even meet the woman.
