What have you been doing today?

Cock Chaffinch , Ive been throwing it grain for a few months, then one day I was working inside and it was up at the window shouting at me . I went outside with some food and it just came straight to me.
Fantastic. I had a try to get the Robin in my garden to feed from my hand. I even went to the trouble of ordering some live meal worms. Nearest I got before I ran out of them was it hovering like a hummingbird, six inches from my hand. I should have persisted.

Cooking.

People think because I am veggie, I can't eat animals. Nonsense!

Here on the left is my rat and on the right, my famouse (pun intended) CAT soup. Nom!

Over the allotment, started planting out. A light shower stopped play so I sat it out in the shed with a cuppa.

I planted out brussels, cauliflowers, cabbage, leeks, pumpkins and courgettes today. Still got loads to go - most of it in the polytunnel.

Been checking our daughters flight on her way back from honeymoon. Christ - there's some crowded skies out there!

the planes aren't actually as big as they look in the pic.

if you go outside and look at the sky, I bet you will only see four.

Not any showing over Ukraine, but there seems to be a tanker constantly circling over Poland near the border, seems to alternate between RAF, USAF & RNLAF

More allotment graft today but the ladies on the next plot to me have made a tiny pond fight next to my shed, hoping to attract frogs and toads. I put some frogspawn in there a month or so ago that I collected from a local pond and there are now a fair few tadpoles swimming around. They have floated a piece of log in there so that anything in there can climb out but the bloke that's three plots away in the opposite direction has brought a few beehives onto his plot and they all use this log as a stopping off/drinking station or maybe they are chewing the wet wood from it. I just know I'm going to get stung one day as it's right where I sit outside my shed so I might ask them to move it.

Had a walk in local woods, I have a memory from the late 60s being in the same woods and watching a guy abseiling down a mineshaft, despite walking extensively over the years the shaft has not been found, might have been filled in maybe.

Just back from the usual dog walk. Maisie, 13, the pack elder who is deaf, 90% blind and suffering from dementia joined us today. She's been going downhill fast as of late and not really up to walking. Her owner accepts that 'she is in the departure lounge of life' bought a pushchair for when the walking got too much for her. Trouble was, she would only stay in it for a short while and as she waddles rather than walks and looses track of us and turns round and walks off in the opposite direction, I spent half the time carrying her. She's no lightweight either!
