What have you been doing today?

Had a walk in local woods, I have a memory from the late 60s being in the same woods and watching a guy abseiling down a mineshaft, despite walking extensively over the years the shaft has not been found, might have been filled in maybe.

Carefull !!!!

Nobody knows exactly where some of these old bell pits & early mineshafts are located.

After nearly two years waiting for probate to be granted on wifes distant cousin the paperwork came through, I signed it & dropped at solicitors this morning, whilst in town called at Home Bargains, bought 180 fat balls, feeder, drain cleaner, called at the Buddhist temple for soup, then the caravan dealer & came away with a windbreak

Update on fat balls put three out to see how my feathered friends liked them, all gone in a day, they seem very well made with seeds & dried mealworms included

Just having a power nap in the conservatory, heard a thud, spotted a sparrow on the patio looking a bit sorry for itself so I kept an eye on it for a few minutes, just then next doors cat popped its head above the fence, don't think it saw the sparrow at first until it moved, cat went into attack mode, I jumped up and distracted the cat until the sparrow managed to fly off. Good deed for the day

Did a bit more planting out over the allotment today. Carrots, sweetcorn and tomatoes. Scorching hot so gave everything a good watering. Just been back over there again and given it another watering. The mother and daughter on the next plot to ours have made up some bunting and a sort of scarecrow which I think I'll copy. I'm going to get my grandson to help me make a scarecrow when we next have him for the day.

How does watering work on an allotment Mottie? Just curious not judging. :)
It's unlimited. You can harvest your own with guttering on your shed into water butts or just take it from the watering troughs we have dotted all over the place. We have about a dozen or so, they are mains fed and they automatically fill like a toilet cistern. Not many allotments have them though. My dog likes to jump in them when she's hot.
They charge just over £30 a year for a half plot, 80% of that is to go towards the water bill.
