What have you been doing today?

I remember making about 15 jars of pickled beet from my allotment one year and it looked like I'd murdered a small animal in the kitchen after! They tasted fantastic!
Glad your allotment is still going strong - still enjoy it? I gave mine up last year.

Selling my late mum's car, one my car mad dad looked after incredibly well, that is in perfect condition considering its 10 year old. I have a potential buyer today who is coming to have a look, who is.... 86.
`
Feels like am complicit in keeping the roads dangerous to other road users, not to mention the car will probably be covered in dents in next to no time... sorry dad!

My 89 year old father still drives. His car seems to be collecting a good collection of wounds. Recently he mounted a high kerb somewhere (not sure - he won't discuss it, only know what he did by seeing the damage). Snapped the steering as the o/s wheel was pointing the opposite direction to where it should be. Sill has a nice scrape down the length of it too. Driving up north at weekend for army reunion. Eventually we'll probably have to prise the keys out of the silly fecker's hands.

Ha, impressive with the steering, bloody hell!
Similar as my dad in law. 92 and still driving and just like your dad, collecting scrapes and has a new clutch on the car every 9 months... he's on number 7 now but apparently it's the cars fault, not his!
He has now become really dangerous behind the wheel imo, knocked over a motorbike the other day in a parking bay, luckily the chap was just sitting on it (managed to get off in time) as was parked in tesco. FIL wasn't even aware of what he did, took a witness chasing him as he was leaving to get him to stop. He is deaf as a post and has slight macular degeneration..

We've pleaded and pleaded for him to stop driving and if it were up to me, I'd report DVLA, but partner is against it.

It’s our 38th wedding anniversary today - where has the time gone? Anyway, instead of going out for a meal, I made us lamb shanks with a red wine and rosemary jus, creamy mashed potatoes and mixed green veg. Sticky toffee pudding and cream for dessert. Big cheat of course as I bought it all from Marks'. Oh, and I bought a nice bottle of wine. Only got to have the one glass because the ambiance was spoiled by having to take my mums dog up the vets for an emergency appointment at 7.30. She has heart trouble but struggling to breathe in the heat. Got to take her back tomorrow for an echocardiogram. Great anniversary - not! It’s a good job we didn’t go out otherwise that would have been a real date night spoiler. Back home now but the wine has been put away and we're having a cuppa.

Travelled down to Ash Vale to meet up with some mates. A few beers in the Old Ford, then off to LaVang Indian for a ruby and a few Cobras.

Picked my mums dog up from the vet after an echocardiogram, £572 including some meds and it’s got to have another one in a months time to see how the drugs are working. Didn't walk our dog this morning as it was too hot so took her out late tonight. Stopped off at the allotment on the way home for Mrs Mottie to pick some sweet peas, cosmos and dahlia's that she had grown. Wasted vegetable growing space if you ask me! She was happy enough though.

Went to work today and my CCTV showed me that the fat Turk and his idiot son from across the road had dumped a fridge in a skip on my rear car parking area at 01.51am on Saturday morning. He came home to it back on his doorstep with a picture taped to it of him doing it. :ROFLMAO:

Brilliant....

Just waved my other half off on his 2 week fishing holiday. He gets to fish on the Norfolk Broads and I get peace - win win!

Prepping for motorhome skylight for re sealing, stripped all carpets & soft furnishings, dust sheeted up, Silkflex 522 & mastic tape all in place, removed the inner cover, looking just like the youtube vids so far, start proper tomorrow first thing, good forecast, fingers crossed.

Mrs Mottie says exactly the same. When I go off on mototcycling holidays with my mates she says its a peaceful week too. Eats when she likes, watches what programme she likes, goes to bed when she likes, gets a restful night sleep, no cleaning up any mess I make, blah blah blah!

Pretty much word for word as to what I say! :)

They look very fine, though.:)
Never underestimate the power of flowers in the garden. They bring in the bees and add common scents to the atmos.
I keep borage around the cherry tree for similar effects. And the young leaves taste like cucumber in salads.

Found time to bonfire a big pile of garden waste this a.m., wishing i could pile it up around the base of next doors sycamore instead. I'd love to watch that seed-riddled sucker sizzle n' fry in the sun. Found a few strawberries the squirrel hadn't scoffed and will enjoy them watching the Ladies Final later.
