What have you been doing today?

Went up to the workshop and repaired the puncture. This was the cause of it.

It was a right bugger to get out too. Nothing protruding on the outside, the barest of point showing on the inside and because it’s threaded, I couldn’t push it through. I had to dig and lever and I eventually got it out using tiny side cutters and long nosed pliers from an electrical tool set. Went in at a 45° angle too so I had to follow the penetration angle with my reamer.
Bastard (DIY Bodger) builder(?) neighbour cleaned his car out last weekend in the road and then (sex&travel) off to Spain for Xmas. Present score is 6 punctures on neighbours cars since then. 3 of us have been out sweeping the road trying to get up all the nails, screws and other sharp bits of metal up. We have a nice bagful of rubbish to present to him on his return.

Yeah, it's not a coincidence either that last week, they had a team of builders in, fitting up a new temporary building in the middle of the car park of the Hospital where Mrs Mottie works.

Been prepping my own grown veg for tomorow. Practically micro-sprouts but packed full of flavour. Even Mrs Mottie liked those that I steamed up as a tester and she's not normally keen on them. My daughter on the other hand, loves them and she’s always fancied having a 'gravy fountain' in which you can dip your sprouts on a stick into!

Maybe I'll send you a kite for Christmas, between you all there should be enough wind to keep it up.

Last minute DIY! Got 8 coming to us for dinner tomorrow. We have an extending table with usually just 4 chairs around it and we have it closed up. We bought 6 chairs when we got it and saved 2 more from our previous table when we got rid of it. I got the 4 extra chairs out of the loft and found that the two old ones were like rocking chairs because all the mortise and tenon joints were loose. Quick fix - drilled and screwed 8 joints on each chair using 50mm screws. Not nice looking but did the job - now solid again. We have the MIL plus our daughter and her husband staying over. I fixed the lock on the downstairs bog door in the week but never got around to doing the one on the bathroom door as I had to go out and sort out the A3 when Mrs Mottie got a puncture. Another quick fix - took the screws out of the top hinge and recessed the hinge back further into the frame to lift the door. Result - the door now locks! Did I get any thanks from Mrs Mottie? Did I f'ck! All I got was reminded that she's been on at me to fix the bathroom door lock for 4 years and I’ve just done it in 20 minutes. Some jobs you just can’t rush, can you? ;)

I predict one guest will end up on the floor with a screw up his backside and another will get locked in the loo.
Nonetheless, enjoy the day. (y)

It has been bugging me for ages that our ancient central heating programmer has to be set individually for each day and then for weekends as well. It takes about thirty presses to make one simple change. I don't know why I decided to check at midnight on Christmas Eve. But I found it had jumpers on the back. Now every day can be changed at the same time! A good start to Christmas Day :)

Bugger all., 24th, 25th, 26th.

Won't be going out or seeing anyone. Might phone mother.

I turned the TV on but it's a repeat like last year.

Opening my pressies. Got my usual chocolate liqueurs, a new Kindle, some jogging bottoms and, best of all, a Jamie Oliver frying pan. One of those all metal jobs that can go from the hob then straight into the oven. No more part frying then swapping to a roasting tray. Hob - oven - plate - done. Oh yeaahh! :giggle:

Right, the spuds are peeled and the turkey is in the oven. It is okay to cook from frozen, isn’t it? ;)
