What have you been doing today?

Changing the clutch on a new style Fiat 500 for the wife's cousin, simple little job, it's quite well put together surprisingly.

Took the family to see Jimmys farm. It will be a lovely experience in the summer but today was freezing and windy. Didn't stop the 3 grandkids running around in T-shirts after discarding their coats and ending up with an ice cream each as we were leaving.
But now they've seen the polar bear, so they are happy.

Popped over the allotment to chip in the collection for someone’s wife who died just before Christmas and while I was there, I brought back some butternut squash's. Made a soup to this recipe. Be-u-ti-ful! You can’t buy soup that tastes this nice. You just can’t.

Left the clearing up to Mrs Mottie. Us chef's don’t trouble ourselves with such trivialities in the kitchen. :ROFLMAO:

Feeling a bit foggy and nauseous, after wiping down the kitchen door (and frame) that I've stripped of paint.

Had the doors and windows open but, as the 'stat was showing 11 deg C in the lounge, I thought better of getting hypothermia...........

..........so shut them all again, and bunged the heating on.

Watching Fulham v Arsenal now.

Investigating adding a couple of hotel type lights, to the bed head - combined shaded general light, reading light on an flexible arm, and a USB charging port. It's a large bed head, with a couple of small, quite cluttered bedside cabinets, on either side. Bedside cabinet has table light, bright reading light, radio and USB charger on it. The idea is, to try to reduce some of the clutter.

I get by with a kindle paperwhite that I can read in a room with the lights out and an eye mask for Mrs Mottie in case the glow from that wakes her up. I do have a 'cube' clock and a table lamp next to my side of the bed but I’d never need a USB charger by my bedside. What do you need to charge next to you that can’t be charged elsewhere?

What do you need to charge next to you that can’t be charged elsewhere?

I also have the landline charger base, along with mobile charger - which is on a Smart plug, to give it a two-hour boost during the night. Mobile is there, in case it might be needed during the night.

We've been busy today, reorganising the layout of my office, come small indoor workshop, come printer room - otherwise known as the log jammed small bedroom. Jammed into it was a door sized desk, come workbench, two small filing cabinets, along one wall, with a similar bench with three large lazer printers on it, shelves on the walls, a myriad of boxes of miscellaneous bits, and a sizable chunk of the room taken up by a half cupboard, over the stairs, plus my weather station Rpi receiver, relay to the Met Office.

We managed between us, to devise a way to stack the printers vertically, on a computer desk on wheels, move the desk/bench, filing cabinets all under the window, releasing lots of extra space.

Part way through, the dog came up, insisted on joining into the confusion, and simply wouldn't stay out of the room, despite there barely being room for us to manoeuvre and her knowing it was one of the rooms she was never welcome to be in. Rather too much attention, but we soon found out why - she found an hide chew, stashed away in a corner. She's not had any hide chews like them for quite a few years. Off she went with it, to her living room bed. What a memory she must have, to remember having stashed it away there.

Had one of the wettest dog walks for a long time - it was lashing down. Even the normally dried up stream was flowing again but the dogs loved it - Susie treats it like a path. I should have had my waterproof over-trousers on because while my top half was dry, it had run down my legs and soaked me right through.

Closed my Amex Gold Rewards account before the £195 annual fee kicks in. I must have earned £400-£500 in points and perks so I’ve had a good run with it. Mrs Motties turn next. ;)

The previously ordered hotel type dual lights with USB charger turned up a 4pm, so I've being battle with those, for a few hours. The original plan, was to mount them on the face of the headboard, using screws through the supplied U brackets, into what felt likely to be some sort of blockboard, deep beneath the upholstery of face of the headboard. Not a chance, soft something or other all the way through, besides, we decided they would look odd on the face. Second idea, was mount them on the wall, but that would be very hard to reach, once in bed. The third idea, was mount them on either end of the headboard, on the sides. That last idea worked out OK, and there was timber framing to screw the brackets to. They work quite well - each has an option of a main shaded light, or an LED on a flexible arm, as a night time reading light, or both on, plus a built in USB charger for a phone etc...

Nowt much, still plodding slowly on with enlarging the access door, to the under stair cupboard, which I started last year. Just about everything which could go wrong went wrong with it, but getting it there slowly. Just needs sanding and painting now - the good news, I have not clouted my head on the low door since :)

Bath plug has been letting by for years, you could hear it dripping - so last week I risked ordering a pop-up type plug as a replacement, unsure it would fit, due to the strange, tapered shape of it. Bath drain, had a plastic grid under it, easy to snip the centre part out of, to make space for the pop-up mechanism, assuming it would actually fit. The new plug arrived this am, and it fitted and sealed perfectly.

Been a good hubby today while Mrs Mottie was out on dementia mum duty. I did the weekly shop - both Lidl and Sainsbury’s, hoovered up, did the ironing completely emptying the ironing basket including putting it all away and had a salmon stir-fry on the table when she got home. Collected a few love tokens there. ;)
