What have you been doing today?

Absolutely no chance if today was anything to go by!

That's the thing: as you get better, the effort expended per metre decreases. Noticeably.

Such that, you may find that something other than fatigue becomes your limiting factor.

For me, it is mostly boredom, lack of time, general discomfort (when it gets below a comfortable temperature, I want to get out because it is no longer enjoyable)...........

.....sometimes, lower back ache, from prolonged front crawl.

Since Octopus offered the free electrickery, for an hour, three times since I signed up for it - I thought it only fair to be ready to make good use of it....

Yesterday, the best I could do, by way of making use of the free hour, was to plug an 1.5kw radiant heater in, one which is kept just for emergencies. That hardly made a difference. It's an irregular thing, they just send you an email, the day before, to say that any extra power you use, above your normal, will be free of charge for that hour. So far, the hour has been between 1pm and 2pm. A few days later, they email you to let you know how much you saved in the previous session.

Today I dug out of the garage, an old 2.5kw fan heater, ready to plug in for the next free period. I also reconnected, and recommissioned our immersion heater. Installed 40 years ago, for emergencies, and just never needed to be used, ever. Normally, the cylinder is heated by the gas boiler. So in the meantime, I had borrowed it's circuit, as the feed for my loft electronics workshop. Today, I reconnected that heater to the circuit, so instead of the circuit being borrowed, it is now shared between loft and immersion heater.

Co-incidently - today, Octopuses Mini, at last began to work fully, to provide instantaneous consumption readings, on both the app, and the My Energy website, on the PC. When I first installed the Octopus Mini gadget, a few months ago, it only worked fully with the app. On the My Energy website, it just showed consumption as 0watts continuously. I've been on Octopuses tech team's back, to fix it, ever since. They originally blamed it on some incompatibility between my early smart meters, and their system - but it always seemed odd, that it worked fine via the app.

Had my last evening meal in Crete. Another minuscule amuse before tonights dinner. Three, yes three toasted chick peas, a bit of yoghurt, some pesto olive oil and three sprigs of cress. I kid you not. I had to flip them out with my butter knife.

You seem to be playing a kind of pincocasino-turkiye with this free watch from Octopus: you never know when the jackpot of free electricity will hit That hardly made a difference. Good approach, I think such promotions can really be profitable if you approach them wisely.

Did Susie smell the cats on you?
No but she did have the 'ump when we picked her up from our friends. After the initial excitement she stood back while our friend’s dogs jumped all over us and sat on our laps while we were having a cuppa as if to say "How could you leave me here". :ROFLMAO:

Woke up early this morning. I’m still on Cretan time. It's half past seven in my mind. I need to acclimatise……. Bugger, just realised, I've got to make my own brekkie from now on and I won't have a selection of things to choose from or anybody to whip me up an omelette. :(

7 this morning - I was scraping ice of the van windscreen

a bit early esp with all the global warming

I made an early start today, of the job of fitting a proper through hole pipe and terminal, to the bathroom fan....

The fan is high on the wall, directly over the bath, so difficult to access unless you stand on the edge of the bath. Last night I made a board, to place over the bath, as an easier place to work from. Today, I got the ladder out, to gain access to the flat roof - the vent exits, to a narrow part of the flat roof, around the side, so I set up a second shorter ladder to get to it.

Having got that set all up, I thought I might as well try knocking through the double brick vent, from the inside, so I removed the fan, got a long chisel, and chipped away from the inside. I discovered I had actually lined the hole through the wall with a pipe, though the inside of the pipe was well choked up with fluff, probably due to the back pressure of venting through a double brick vent, rather than a proper vent.o_O

I then spent over an hour, looking for where I had left the new pipe and terminal, to check the fit. In the process of looking for it everywhere, I must have walked past it a dozen times, without seeing it. It was just by the kitchen back door, on the dresser.

Cupboards were bare today so Mrs Mottie made a list of stuff needed. First stop Lidl for the bits I like from them - coffee pods, digestives, eggs and yoghurt. Next, off to Sainsbury’s and….I'd lost the effing list! Got what I could from memory but couldn’t go back until Mrs Mottie came back and made another list. Had to go back in a different car as no return within 2 hours as number plate reader sends you an automatic parking charge. Cut the grass then watched free practice for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Made tea tonight. Pan fried sea bass and stir-fry vegetables with wild rice but to keep in the holiday mood, I prepped an amuse-bouche for Mrs Mottie and I didn’t hold back with the portion size! Greek yoghurt, 3 peas, a sprig of broccoli, 3 pine nuts, strawberry conserve and chilli flakes. Well, it amused her bouche…..

Waiting in ASDA car park for mrs Mottie to have an eye test. Parked right out of the way in the car park. Popped over to McDonalds to buy a coffee and when I came back, I had an Audi either side of me in a practically empty car park. It was as if there was a meeting of the dogging chapter of the local Audi owners club!
