What have you bought today?

Went to B&Q to get some sand and cement today to patch up the concrete in my yard at work. Sand was £3 a bag. They had three bags with holes in, in separate bags for £1.50 a bag. They were the same size as the full bags, in fact, one was a lot heavier. I bought those plus one £3 bag. When I got to the car and lifted the £3 bag out, the bottom split and I lost half the sand that was in it.

In a similar vein.....

Went to Aldiddly to get some stuff for tea, and saw a bbq chicken with a 30% off sticker on it.

Not too arrissed about the money but, as I wanted bbq, I kept the garlic and herb one and I bought it too........

..... then went through self-serve.

I only realised after I'd got home (like I do, every time I do the same) that Aldiddly don't stick reduced barcodes on.......

All Aldi's down this neck of the woods don't have any self service tills, (so I rarely go unless there's something specific I want), but they do have some stores with self service tills then?

What happened to you will most certainly have been discussed at a high level in Aldi's management structure.

They most certainly took the decision to not alter their proceedures or introduce any new ones.

I know.

And forget, pretty much every time.....

The food grade fold flat hose arrived today, the second part to arrive, of my self designed, direct fresh water feed to use with my tourer caravan, I'm just waiting for the third final part, a proper pressure regulator.

The first part, was a sort of moulded plastic plug, to fit the water input socket on the side of the 'van, which are not available as a separate part, you have to buy the plug, pipe and a pump for £70. Instead of which, I asked around, to see if anyone had the plug going spare, perhaps with a dead pump, and was lucky to have one donated to the little project.

The manufacturer's full kit, to do the same job, around £80, my home-made adaption, using much better, more robust parts - £26.

Does it matter to someone with time on their hands? This is a DIY site after all.

Reading up on the comments from those who had bought the manufacturer's ready-made item, there were several suggesting that the pressure was less than was normal, simply using the pump and water barrel. I suspect that rather than it being a pressure issue, it causes a restriction in the flow. My thoughts were, I could probably do better, and cheaper. As well as deriving another life experience out of the process. Never under value, the learning experience..
