What have you bought today?

I might go again on the Amex with Mrs Mottie (done that before but you can’t do it again until 2 years have passed) but I’ll wait until we have a holiday to book or another big spend coming up as you have to spend £3k in the first 3 months to get the 30,000 bonus points.
We went out to lunch with friends on Friday. I was telling my mate about my Amex success. He wanted some of it so I sent him a referral link. Heard from him today that he has been accepted (and will be getting 30,000 bonus points) so I’ll be getting 14,000 bonus points for that. I just hope I get them and can cash them in before I ditch the card!

Blimey, that was quick! 14,000 Amex points came today, I converted them plus the 1,500 I already had into Avios. That will take 3 days and then I have my Avios account set up to convert them to Nectar every Monday. Then it’s goodbye to Amex before the annual £195 fee kicks in. ;)

Just paid for a 'Senior' haircut. £15 instead of £23. Same haircut though. (y)

When I pay around here, I can usually get it done for around £7, but Avril has volunteered the last few times, to do it with the hair trimmer. She cut it Monday, then did a final tidy up last night, after it had resettled.

Amazon kindle paperwhite signature edition. Was £180, now £160, I sent my v. old kindle back to them as a trade in and got £37 off the price so only £123.

I switched to giffgaff in November and the price is £6/month. But they've given me an £11 credit for November, simply because I made some posts on the community forum.

That sounds a very strange business model!

£200 of food for Christmas, but we forgot loads, so I think we could easily spend another ton.

A battery for the mantle piece clock, which has been out of action for months.

A new 4 gang switch for the kitchen. The old one gave Mrs S a couple of shocks. If this new one does the same, I suspect the "shocks" will be static. The earth loop reading is fine.

Batteries for all the battery operated Christmas light strings.

Don't you pay by weight?
No. They have plastic bags of different sizes. Bigger the bag, bigger the price. You fill them with what you want - nuts, bolts, washers, screws etc. Rule is, you must be able to close the bag. I find that stretching the bag before you fill it can be a help. ;)
