What have you bought today?

A good night's sleep.
Did you buy some sleeping tablets? I went to buy some Nytol last week. The chemist wanted £8.99 for them. I’m sure they are only £6.99 elsewhere. I saw on the same shelf some unbranded ones for £4.99 so I said I’d have those instead. He tried the hard sell saying Nytol was a good brand but with medicines, you really do pay extra for the branded makes. Anyway, I insisted on the £4.99 version. He had the 'ump and all bar threw my change from a tenner at me. When I looked, he'd given me £6.01 change instead of £5.01 so he stuffed himself up trying for the hard sell. :ROFLMAO:

Edit: Here’s the ingredients of Nytol.

And here’s the ingredients for the non-branded ones.

Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride is stronger than Diphenhydramine. No wonder they work better than Nytol!

I bought a thermal camera for my phone and and now examining everything for it's thermal efficiency or not. No it wasn't cheap i think about £400

I don't know why I'm holding out about the whole loyalty card, data sharing thing. But it still feels a bit uncomfortable. I know it's illogical, because it's unavoidable when I buy from Amazon etc.

At least this way I can benefit from Nectar Prices. I'm new to this, but the savings from Nectar Prices seem to dwarf the value of the loyalty points I would get if I registered it.
Did my weekly shop yesterday. Saved £17.65 on Nectar items. Total bill came to £1.78 using my Nectar points. £132.50 of points cashed in yesterday and with the £140 I used earlier in the year at Argos means I’ve not had too bad a year with Nectar points. I won’t see that next year though as I’m ditching my Amex card in the new year (converted Amex points to Avios and then Avios to Nectar) before I cop for the £195 annual fee. Still, it’s done its job for this year and I got 4 free airport lounge visits from it. We went out to lunch with a mate and his wife yesterday and he's thinking of getting one. I’ve sent him a link and if he signs up, I’ll get 14,000 Amex points that will convert to about £95 of Nectar points. Might have to get Mrs Mottie to take one out in the new year too. Oh, it’s great having time on your hands. ;)

Avril did a Tesco shop yesterday, to take them up on their half-price joints offer, with a Tesco card. She 'won' a large beef, lamp, and pork. We didn't need them, they are now in the freezer for future use, but it would have been rude not to take advantage.

Went to the Newark antiques fair yesterday
Bought a few bits prices seem to be dropping.
Got this time piece black glass bronze base French movement £75 after some negotiation.

A tube of Gorilla Grab to stick tiles on a door i'm stripping down to bare wood. The holes filled in well enough but the area is big enough to notice even after varnishing, so i'm hoping a 4"x4" tile on either side will hide the spot where the handle once fitted. Not tried this before so fingers crossed. And a tube of Vicks to get the smell of old door out of my sinus.

A bag of pick 'n' mix nuts, bolts and washers from B&Q. Only needed half a dozen to rebolt my mums wardrobe door so I filled the bag to get my moneys worth. :ROFLMAO:

Nicely done! Especially on the Amex.

Have you got another deal lined up?

I might go again on the Amex with Mrs Mottie (done that before but you can’t do it again until 2 years have passed) but I’ll wait until we have a holiday to book or another big spend coming up as you have to spend £3k in the first 3 months to get the 30,000 bonus points.
