What have you bought today?

Now that the butter spreading time of the year is over, I've switched over to this for the next six months.

I thought the "fiver for delivery" was a clue...and the fact a pic shows it's in my sitting room, so yes, i bought it - for that price, wouldn't you?

Yes, if I had a use for it. Around here, they charge £20 for delivery, which is just a 1/2 mile trip, from the one place that offers delivery - one of the reasons for which I recently bought a trailer.

I did a two-store shop this morning. I’m really into my Greek yoghurt since my holiday in Crete - I can’t get enough of the stuff. A big dollop plus sunflower and pumpkin seeds with walnuts, hazel nits, dried fruit and honey. I’m trying out Fagé, normal price £3.50 (but currently £2.75 on a nectar card) vs Lidl at £1.89.

The Lidl version of that, is our default year round, straight from the fridge.
I use this one from Sainsbury's. Spreadable and if the large packs are et on special offer, the smaller ones always are. They do a 'buttery' one too but that isn’t as spreadable.

Which charity charges that much? I'm less than five miles away so £5 is the minimum charge. Plenty of good charity shops in town and the quality is much improved since the days of dusty old books and borrowed clothes - the Oxfam shop, for instance, has a fantastic range of books...all for £2.99, and a selection of albums that range from £8.99 up to £50, depending on the condition. A Tangerine Dream album i put in a few months ago is still there: £42 to you, squire.

I've not seen Greek yoghurt in Lidl, only Greek style yoghurt.

Aldi's Brooklea Greek yoghurt (not "style") is nice, and is under £2 a pot.

Yeah, they do it in 0%, 5% and 10% fat. I bought 5% to get a good comparison with the Fage.

Edit: Just noticed that the Fage is only 450 grams but the Lidl is 500 grams so even better value - providing it tastes OK!.

Are you certain it is not Greek style yoghurt?
No. Definitely 100% Greek yoghurt. Mrs mottie has specifically told me to avoid the Greek style as its full of additives to thicken it up. They do do a GREEK yoghurt with a tiny, tiny style next to it the crafty buggers.

I honestly couldn’t taste any difference between the two. Different figures for them both though.
Less salt and sugar and more protein in the Fagé.

To help my grandson with his pumpkin carving this year instead of just watching me (you can hardly give a 4 year old a sharp knife and tell him to get on with it!) I’ve just bought a pumpkin carving kit. Basically cookie cutters that you hammer into the pumpkin to make a face.

Should make a good few faces out of these:
