What is wrong with people/the world?

My mates son joined the Marines. When they all arrived at this particular station, a sergeant started bawling them out. Saying things like "if you miss your mum, if you miss your mates, if you can’t handle being told what to do, get back on that ****ing train now and **** off…." Three people did!

Ha ha,

What about the good that people do in helping others - people helping random strangers on GoFundMe?

I think the 'swing' is swinging much further - many more doing good and many more doing bad, all a result of better/easier communications.

.
But it's very odd who does and doesn't get the money and there are no legitimacy checks.

One of the recent ones was a black woman in the US, who had run out of what ever cosmetic glue she usually plasters on her hair and instead tried Gorilla Glue, with an obvious outcome. She claimed glues safety warnings didn't specifically mention not putting it on your hair. Sympathetic s had a whip-round, to help her recover from her pain.

I stabbed my thumb with a sharp screwdriver last week, I feel a crowdfunding opportunity coming on :)

Canvey was a great place to grow up in some 40-50 years ago but now I understand that it has become overpopulated, the petrochemical refinery on there is being allowed to expand and they have dangerous situations with the boats loading etc.

Many things are able to wipe Canvey off the face of the earth, yet many still flock to it.

I joined the facebook groups on there to reminisce but I thin I'll leave them now, the whining is getting repetitive.

Whenever I drive onto Canvey, I always expect to see a kid sitting on that bridge with his legs dangling over, playing a banjo…..

Spare the rod, spoil the child.
Lack of discpline in schools like the 50's have caused all teenagers to become an unruly mob.

Not just the schools. When I was a pre and teenage terror everyone in the 2 villages knew who I was and my parents (and similar for all of my age group). If we were caught doing anything wrong (scrumping, making noise late at night, 'Cherry Knocking' giving backchat to old people, etc) we would be disciplined on the spot and our parents would be told so we would have more 'discipline' when our parents found out.

Today if a child is so much 'told off' the parents are soon around saying it isn't our 'little johnny/molly' making trouble as they would never do such a thing.

Unless we can get back to the 'collective' parenting of my childhood and earlier the problems of this thread will only get worse.

Oh yeah, full of complainers now.

You know there is 60,000 residents on canvey....

Was nice when it was a small community, but as the developers built more the Londoners came in their droves and brought their issues with them.

That said it's still not hugely terrible place to live and the issues they have are the same issues you have in any town.

Nonsense - spouted by the elderly and the childless.

It's a fine art disciplining children, you don't want to break their spirits but also don't want them to turn into little poops.

As yet I haven't teenagers but can imagine it's an even tighter line to follow

I can remember, as a 9 year old -going to the dump and scavenging bike parts for in my shed where I was the local bike kid, fixing others bikes etc.
I used to find all sorts of valuables too.
Couldn't do that now, your barely allowed near the big skips they use and get shouted at if you try to recycle something that is destined for a hole in the ground.
