Oh come on Notch! We've all seen people genuinely fleeing for their life with little more than the clothes on their back. Do you think if they were airlifted to Italy, they'd then make their way across France and risk their lives crossing the channel in a dinghy?

The same old mythological arguments regurgitated time and time again.
Refugees are free to choose which country they want to claim asylum. How they get here is their problem, and their choice.

Notch is a fake. He made out he was always a Tory voter who voted Brexit... A person who can change his opinion or mind should be treated with respect and admiration.
Have you seen anything he's written that resembles a Tory thinking mind?

Politics isn't a binary affair, it's a continuum. Think of it as a straight line stretching into the distance, and as far back beyond your imagination.
There is no mid-point. The mid-point will be somewhere in the middle of your imaginary line. Your imagination may be more or less vivid than others, so the mid-point will vary according to your imagination.
I may choose to be on the left of centre, you may choose to be on the right of centre. But if the centre is an indeterminable point, who says which is left of centre and which is right of centre? And the dominant opinion, the 'group-think' may shift that imaginary centre point. So people's opinions can shift left or right. But it's not that their opinion has shifted, it's the 'group-think' of where the centre point is, that has shifted.

A fella last night called LBC. He said that he would give a Ukrainian family a room, but doubted they would want to stay with him because he was Black... He went on to say his opinion of Priti Patel had changed and now likes her as she and the government where consistent.

So there's no verification of who (or what ethnicity/nationality/political party he was).

I suspect the ones you are referring to were not claiming asylum. They were illegal immigrants. And they paid the ultimate price to try to achieve their dreams.

The usual route via Poland.

During the Vietnamese and Cambodian migration, those that managed to reach Thailand were housed in refugee camps. Various countries took them from there. UK using the 'existing current relatives' excuse to limit the numbers. Other countries used 'useful skills' or age of refugees, etc as criteria.
Those selected refugees were flown to the other countries on funded, chartered flights. Accommodation was provided on arrival until such times as the refugees were able to contact relatives or support themselves.

A forward thinking government might then work out a reasonable amount to take, and establish mini consulates in the relevant areas...

They were human beings that risked their life for the chance to earn £6 odd an hour. Something Notch said I was telling fibs about.

The plan is exactly this, IE drag their feet and less refugees here and hope the war is over soon
