Winter fuel allowance

I don't support it, no, but as has been explained to you numerous times, the millionaires are heavily taxed. They effectively don't get to keep the hand out, so your argument, is the usual nonsense rant.
If you want to pay out the wfa to all pensioners, who EXACTLY do you think should pay for it?

Tax the rich more, or the poorer ?

Denso try this then. You don't care.
There is a bit of a problem with posts like those. Fact is these people are ~£900 per year better off than they were last winter and fuel prices are lower. Most bills are averaged throughout the year. It looks like the next increase will be ~£460. The numbers used are available now.

The real problem is those that do not claim pension credits when they could.

A lady was interviewed said that the lack of her £200 will prevent her from running her car. She claims she has no savings. I am inclined to wonder how she ran a car before the £900 but ok things aren't as simple as that She has worked all of her life so gets a state pension. A friend who does get pension credits gets ~£2000 more and didn't work. There must be specific reasons for that. She probably gets the pension due to her husbands contributions.

What's Starmer saying? They need to build a firmer foundation. Affordability needs to fit into that. Pension area costs escalate each year.

I wonder why the Tory changed what power supply companies can do if there are payment problems?

And if that money hadn't been wasted more pensioners could have had more.

But let's ignore facts and spend money we haven't got
Mind you a few years back many of those pensioners will have voted to cost the UK far more...

So sympathy has to be tempered somewhat ;)

The problem is that Tory supporters will never back any Labour initiatives, whatever they are.

Just the way the cookie crumbles, it's inevitable.

No problem with means testing (or equivalent) for eligibility but the government has apparently built into its calculations that £300 million won’t be claimed because that’s the amount attributable to outstanding but unclaimed pension credit

Maybe I could see your point, but for one small detail - THE VAST MAJORITY OF PENSIONERS ARE NEITHER MILLIONAIRES NOR VERY WELL KNOWN MUSICIANS.
Nor, of course, so poor that they need the WFA.

Why are you so keen to give a taxpayer handout to people who don't need it?

Very sensible, otherwise that's another £300 million that will have someone scratching their head (y)

Blame Labour for that too
not at the moment, but I am hoping to see some positivity in the forthcoming budget with investment into green policies such as insulating our homes and subsidising solar panels etc

I'm no tory fan boy, I think the last gov were awful and they had to go. But I have been very very disappointed in Starmers Labour, robbing pensioners of winter fuel and paying it to the already extremely well paid train drivers - and then there was the two tier bolluxs as he tries to stifle anyone with ideas he does not care for. An horrendous start

I am also deeply disappointed in our electoral system, only 20% of people eligible to vote (one in five) voted Labour - and they have a land slide victory.! Something is very very wrong with that.

Thats just a load of rubbish.

1 there is no money to do anything like that, yet. Where will that money come from if not cutting back unneeded expenses ?

2 Nobody is robbing pensioners of the wfa, it will still be paid out to those that need it. Complete nonsense to say they are being robbed. Whether train drivers are overpaid or not is subjective, but do we or don't we want well paid jobs? Then work out how train companies are paying the wages and how long the wage claim has been going on, and take into account versus overall inflation and then come back. As for 2 tier ideas he doesn't care for, open your eyes if not your brain.

3 Various Governments in our history have had exactly the same "benefit", don't complain now just because it benefits the opposition. Personally I support PR system, but we don't have it, so you get what is voted for under our system.

You may say you are no Tory fan, but your posts certainly belie your position
