yorkshire puddings

Yeah, lot like beef...had it in the States...Ted Turner owns a chain of restaurants that specialise in it...maybe ML might know them?

It was darn good :D

Dunno over here...maybe Hermes can tell us, but in US was about the same for the food as other restaurants and much better than any beef I had over there.

If the stuff over here is as good as that it could really take off.

Fished the packaging out of the bin, £8.95/kg, don't know about beef. Also got some buffalo & mustard sausages in the fridge £7.50/kg, that sounds a bit pricey I expect.
The roast was a real treat, like beef but with a gamey flavour, made a nice change.

is it ten times more expensive than beef

Just bought a beef rib (bone in) which is an excellent roast, at about £5/kg

Boneless topside is a bit cheaper, sirloin (roasting joint) about £6/kg

So your buffalo is dearer, but not double.

Is there any left JohnD? That's my fave cut of meat :D . My eldest son works on a meat counter and has promised to save me a nice rib for Sunday roast this week :D

i read through...what kind of beef are you discussing? someone mentioned water buffalo...i dont think we have them here...not sure...but dont think so...unless they are known by another name...but ive seen pictures of them...so no.

but we do have angus beef....maybe that's what you are referring to?

Beef is beef.

Water buffalo is water buffalo.

Different animal, so not beef.

How closely related, and how similar the meat, I don't know - never eaten it. Must give it a try.

well...i beg to differ.
Angus beef -alittle more expensive-to me its an acquired taste-i dont like it personally.
regular "cow" beef....sorry...dont know the technical term....i like.

never had water buffalo.....but have had "buffalo".....ya know "where the buffalo roam...." buffalo....very tender and tasty :)

Sorry - misunderstood.

No, not all beef is the same - far from it, that wasn't what I was trying to say.

Interesting what you say, though. I do like Aberdeen Angus, and Charolais. On the whole I have found the steak served in US restaurants, whilst perfectly tender and juicy, to be extremely bland.

PS - what happened here? I got an email noificaion, clicked on the link, and got "Post does not exist" - surely this topic can't have generated an objectionable post?

well...alone again :(

I think I'll try my hand at yorkshire pudding....i might start a trend!

It's getting worrying when a topic titled Yorkshire puddings can get to ten pages!

Especially when they contain no photos of people who might be described as "Yorkshire puddings"... ;)
