Brace yerself. It’s coming, it’s coming. Better start saving up…..

Tourists will have to pay more regardless of nationality when more cities get into the idea of charging for entry and a wander round the sights.
To be fair i agree with the charging, we went to Palma for a daytrip, tried to get a bus, all full, so got a taxi, once there it was hammered, the queue for the Cathedral was a 3hr wait, had to go to McDonalds for a coffee as all cafes rammed, left soon after to escape the madness, and this was a Thursday.

no way would the EU want to make it hard for us,

We did that all by ourselves (y)

And before the usual d!ckheads say "it's only another 3 euro / 45 secs in a queue", I'm talking about the £billions that it has already taken - and will continue to take, for years to come - just to end up, at best, where we started.

Rather you than me - i'd rather go for root canal surgery than a tourist hotspot in high summer. No wonder many places complain about over crowding. Did you get in to the cathedral?

I agree, but been to MaJorca loads and never been to Palma, and no wasn't going to queue for 3 hrs to look in a Church.

I was talking about tourism only, which to be fair iv'e not noticed personally any change since Brexit.

Fact is too many tourists can be a problem for the area concerned and also the tourists due to wait times in interesting buildings and areas etc. In some cases eg buildings they may already include a charge.

While people might have flights of fancy about what could be done it needs to be realistic. achievable and cost does not mean that there would be a reduction in numbers unless it was set at a level high enough to put people off. The most likely change would be quotas via visas. Not easily applied to the EU on a country basis going on my tours there. A visa for say Venice might be achievable but would need to be checked. Arrivals via air etc could be checked but whose to say where these people will finish up.

A mobile phone app could locate people and charge accordingly. ;) Some would turn it off. Hotels could also check for visas. Bit of a return to the past - a hotel did want your passport and visitors were logged but had been on entry to the country anyway. LOL Youth Hostels just wanted to see that people were a member of the organisation. They fill up at times in some areas and remain like that for months. Tough if some one finds that.

Oh, you and your wishful thinking…..
You’re still smarting that:
We don’t need a green card if driving in Europe - you predicted we would.
We have a health card for use in Europe - you predicted we wouldn’t .
We didn’t lose our inclusive mobile roaming - you predicted we would.
We don't need an international driving permit - you predicted we would.
Yada yada yada…..let’s face it, your predictions aren’t worth a cup of cold pìss!
The EU? What's that?
Do you mean that Dictatorship that imploded a year or so again, after Frexit, Grexit, Blexit, Itexit, etc?

According to Ms Johansson, the EES system would mean "every single airport", "harbour" or "road into Europe" would have strict digital border controls.

Yes, that’ll work won’t it.

 I wonder if the asylum seekers entering from Africa, the Middle East and other places will be allowed in without one?

No charges here. When I was considering living in Czech Republic I applied for temporary residency before Brexit hit. Lasts 10 years and is renewable or make it permanent after first 10 years. Can come and go to EU as I please, as long as I don't stay in EU countries other than CZ for more than 90 days in 180 while I'm over there. (y)

Mate moved to spain nearly 2 years ago he has never had to leave the country despite being on uk passport and not hiding under any radar
He probably applied for a tarjeta de residencia. It's pretty straight forward if you can prove you've lived in Spain prior to Brexit.
it's almost as easy as registering your car in Spain, except you don't need to be a resident of Spain to register your car.

Of course if he's not legally in Spain, he could find himself deported in no uncertain manner, refused entry to any other EU country, and facing a penalty of a fine or imprisonment.
Anyone who commits serious crime in another country can expect the full force of the law to be applied.
