This has quickly turned into something it wasn't meant to be. This thread to me was about principles. Yes tax evasion is very wrong and is unfair, but i would always say that benefit FRAUD/ theft, the taking of something that is not yours is always worse than giving away less than being asked of you.

My signature is very misleading I know. The reason I have it is because during a previous 'debate' with someone else I mentioned that I had no problem with the welfare system but it was the the people who saw it as a career option that were vermin.

In every 'debate' after that, this person misquoted me on my previous post to the extent where he was suggesting that I believed anyone that had ever got a quid in tax credits should be gased (while we were discussing a completely unrelated topic of course, but you know how these things go). So I quoted myself and put it in my signature so he had nothing to say to me in future.

I have spent my time arguing that the fraudsters who swindle the country out of £15Billion a year by illegally evading tax ought to be pursued with no less energy, and since it is generally performed by quite prosperous people who are in no way underr the pressure of poverty, their can be no excuse for their greed and criminality. I am revolted that there are people who think that a large amount of money swindled by the rich is not to be taken as seriously as a small amount of money swindled by the poor.

I'm on the sick, and those of you that think life is so easy, need to do a little research.
There's a lot of bias about at the mo, as other people are being punished because of people upstairs made the wrong decisions.

It's been very hard to get sickness benifet for a long time, i have a re-occuring dislocated shoulder, no concern as i could lift a 5lb bag of spuds, with the other hand.

EVERYTIME a government takes over, you get the same sheit, why the fick do you bother to even vote.

£5Bn is the figure which includes the (larger) amount lost due to office errors and has been added to the (much smaller) fraud figure; either by mistake, or possibly in a cynical attempt to mislead. The tax swindle figure is about 15 times as large as the benefits swindle.
