Covid Leak

Everything else you said sounds plausible, but this bit sounds too much like a conspiracy theory.
Is there any proof that virus labs in China and evolving viruses to affect humans?
It sounds like it, but it's pretty likely to be true. They called it "gain of function" research. Basically trying to do a few thousand years' worth of evolution with a bit of genetic manipulation. This was not because they were evil baddies who were trying to kill the world while laughing menacingly. They were deliberately trying to create a really bad virus so they could produce a really good treatment for it, just to be ready in case this actually happened in the wild. All sounds good, provided the lab really is sealed, which it probably wasn't.

There's a whole internet full of info about it, here's one fairly respectable report on it all...

IIRC, satellite photos showed Wuhan General car park was rammed full summer 2019 and, for comparison, was empty summer 2018.

Again iirc, there were reports of a lurgy around there summer 2019, but these were not trumpeted.

yep how many people in this country in the november/december saying they had been struck down with some mysterious illness that stayed for weeks

Of course the earth is flat

And

The moon landing was faked. The attacks of 9/11 were an inside job. Elvis Presley and/or Michael Jackson are alive and in hiding. Paul McCartney, who is not in hiding, is dead.

People believe this stuff, so rationality or proof doesn't help, a bit like brexhit and sovereignty

FWIW it must be a distinct possibility that covid was man made, on balance I don't believe it was.

Quite old and doesn't really conclude anything

no evidence it came from a lab

thats your theory buggered
There are enough credible scientists saying otherwise, to conclude that "science" is divided on the subject.

If it emerged that it was a lab leak and you follow that to conclusion then it makes one of the most powerful countries in the world liable for the damages. Would they pay or would they face off the threats? Nobody wants to invite China to say "come and have a go if you think you are hard enough".

It gives a very low figure (1•4%) to how many deaths it caused in comparison to other viruses mentioned yet it had everything chucked at it to remedy that low figure.

Your opinion is worthless.
Chinna is not opening up its labs and scientists to full or even proper scrutiny so the possibility must remain.
It doesn't mean all the other covid conspiracy theories hold water.

It was published at almost the start of the pandemic.

According to various data aggregation sources. 1/2 a billion infections and nearly 7M reported deaths world wide. Some countries over reported and others under reported. In the UK we have around 2M people reporting long covid symptoms. If you assume 90% are wrong/hypochondriacs that still leaves compensation in the trillions.

I had it once, I lost my taste and had a mild cold. That was it. Others weren't so lucky.

Just an observation, don't really want to go down the route of what constitutes a covid death as it's been done to death on here with firmly entrenched positions on both sides, that are not for budging.

Testing positive for Covid in the last 28 days. Or at least it used to be.

The point is valid.

Some die with covid, others covid, "helped" and some died directly as a result of catching covid.
