I thought it still wasn't.
But intelligence may be. If I saw prisoners escaping from a prison, would I blame the prisoners, or would I blame the warders, the builders of the prisoners, the designers of the prison?
Ryler would blame the prisoners, and still be clapping the warders, the builders, the designers, etc. How daft is that?

The system doesn't work like that, and you know it doesn't, so it's a useless finger-pointing exercise. But, yes I have sponsored someone in the past.
And if the system did work as you thought it did. Yes, I would continue to sponsor more. I would have happily sponsored every single one of those that have lost their lives, I would happily pay for their transport to UK, and their subsequent upkeep.

Even in 1938/9 some refugees were returned France, to an uncertain fate.
It wasn't until 1987 that refugees were refused access to planes and boats to carry them to UK, when the Carriers Liability Act was enacted, making carriers responsible for checking the validity of passengers right to enter UK, and substantial fines if they weren't.
Prior to 1987 refugees could arrive by boat or plane.

I have no problem with them being rescued, just don't bring them to Europe (unless they are Europeans trying to get to Africa). They should patrol in African waters and escort them back before they get in trouble, as the saying goes, prevention is better than cure.
