Government Rwanda plan ...

When in a hole stop digging so they say notchy.
Why have you answered mottie with no reference to the boats involved?
I tell you what else he's leaving out from good ol' compassionate Labour:

"The British government has said that claims will automatically be rejected from seven so-called "safe countries." They are: Albania, Bulgaria, Jamaica, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, and Serbia and Montenegro. It is also proposing that refugee protection centers, administered by the United Nations, be set up in places such as Ukraine, Turkey, and Morocco".

Pity we can’t do the same today and while we are at it, add France to that list.

because it’s a strawman argument.

what so boats have to do with it?

when comparing asylum seeker claims the only thing that counts is the rate of processing

You should take yer own advice: “When in a hole stop digging”

Awfully obvious deflection there.

Poor Mottie is to cowardly to admit he is wrong.

come on Mottie, when are you going to admit Labour processed asylum claims way faster.

They'll have a job sailing from Bulgaria and Romania, too. Through the Black Sea, into the Med then out past Gibraltar along the coast of Portugal, into the Bay of Biscay and finally landing in the fair port of Fowey...it'd be quicker to walk.

And hardly any asylum claimants come from Bulgaria, Jamaica, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, and Serbia and Montenegro anyway.

it’s blatant Tory BS.

From F.Boy's link:
According to the latest Home Office figures, by the end of June this year there were 103,083 cases - relating to 127,026 people - in the asylum backlog. That is more than three times the number of cases that were awaiting for an initial decision in December 2017, when 29.522 were in the backlog.
It said in 2021-22, there were 614 caseworkers who made an average of five asylum decisions per month per staff member, compared to 380 caseworkers with a productivity rate of 13.7 decisions in 2011-12.

All this could've been avoided if Rees-Mugg and his minions hadn't insisted on cutting staff dealing with the process in the first place.

And selective quoting Notch thinks that the majority of asylum seekers come all the way to the U.K. in a small boat directly from Africa and the middle east.

When you tell me the number of asylum applications received by Labour compared to Conservative and don’t pick out the highest number per year from labour and the lowest number per year under the conservatives. Try the last 10 years of each government.

Now we're getting to the meat of the story, a bloated over subscribed civil service who had grown fat and lazy on rubber stamping eu directives who when called to start work again couldn't hack it.
So they circled their wagons to bring down the brexiteer mps and the results are all there on open display.
Don't mess with the ' swamp'

This backlog of 'legacy cases' was estimated at some 400,000 to 450,000 in June 2006 but, by December 2007, was put at some 335,000 cases. The Agency has made inroads: in total, 90,000 of these cases had been concluded by July 2008.

The annual number of asylum applications to the UK peaked in 2002 at 84,132. After that the number fell sharply to reach a twenty-year low point of 17,916 in 2010. It rose steadily throughout the 2010s, then sharply from 2021 onwards to reach 81,130 applications in 2022, the highest annual number since 2002.
  • 660,000 decisions were made over the period of 1997-2010 as a result of which 23 percent of claimants were removed (including voluntary returns).

As could the 100 million to date for this Covid caper ????

And the 150 million spent on the Bloody Sunday enquiry ???all in legal fees for scheister lawyers

Or the 8 million per day on hotel fees for illegal migrants
Which excludes the millions spent on foreign hotel fees

Still, at least the country's finances are in safe hands ;)

As Nosey might phrase it,
Party of fiscal responsibility, my @RSE :D

And selective quoting Notch thinks that the majority of asylum seekers come all the way to the U.K. in a small boat directly from Africa and the middle east.
They take short sea journeys from North African coast into mainland Europe.

Perhaps you can explain how people from.Jamaica get to.Europe without a passport.

It rose steadily throughout the 2010s, then sharply from 2021 onwards
Conservative govt in power 2010 to now

It their fault no matter how much their rabid supporters like Mottie, Frilly, Gnat et al make excuses: "civil servants, small boats, wrong kind of rain, the EU, yadder yadder yadder"

Odds has kindly provides the information.

Would you like a bigger shovel
