Immigration and the tories

Yes, but now I'm going to have to eat a whole large pie to comfort myself instead (yes, even southern Tories eat pies, not just overweight people with a penchant for a pair of West Midlands-built luxury cars) ;)

So it is a simple yes/no vote.

I will start this off I say YES michaell Howard is right. What about the rest of you?
Can't really see what holding a mini referendum on this forum will achieve apart from getting a result we know the answer to before we start, same as if i went to a BNP meeting and asked for a show of hands of who would like to go and kick a few foreigners heads in??! the membership here is not diverse enough going by the replies so far so it has a nasty smell of tory dirty tricks methinks. :)
What we need is a national referendum and i think we will get the voters viewpoint when the general election is over.

Hey Kendor, you, like the Labour party and the liberals are scared to have a referendum because of the truth that will come out. No!no! not that you are a muppet, we dont need a referendum for that!

whatever your views on this subject, i think michael howard is a shrewd cookie in picking the subject. If its of no intrest to the public at large, then just ahve a look at the number of views, let alone posts concerning the subject on the forum

That might be my fault. I find it so hard to believe some of the posts, that I have to keep checking I'm not mistaken.

jas petal, you need to put your reading glasses on and you'll see that i said a mini referendum on this forum is of no use and that a national referendum is needed of course the voters in the general election will have their say soon. Are you old enough to vote in it?

kendor... sensible non racist, facist nor insulting question for you.

You said this.
You never replied to my posting about you saying the immigrants are to blame for the state of the country, and to comment on a previous post about the NHS being bled dry by the immigrants also, so let's get this into context, we spend Billions on financing the War machine so how about drastically cutting the armed services budget and putting the huge amount of money saved into making the NHS the service it used to be and doing some good for the populace instead of paying for a lot of individuals to go round shooting peoples heads off!

You are clearly against war such as Iraq (quite rightly) you are also against the NHS underfunding (again rightly) What I don't understand is that you appear to be pro Labour and they are currently responsible for both of these issues.

Can you explain that to me please?

bored now far too long to read, fight it out in 4 months time at the election

Yeah i can explain, I don't believe it's labours fault that the NHS is in such bad shape they inherited a shambles of a service from the tories what with the management structure the way it was, I believe labour have gone a long way in trying to restore it to some form of service but the damage was done by the tories so badly that massive investment was needed to restore it to its prime and no government has those sort of resourses at hand without juggling around with funding, maybe if the iraq war hadn't happened and sucked up the coffers so much then more money may have been available. I fault Blair on getting involved with america in the war but who knows the immense pressure (financially) that Bush could have put on him to support their cause? It certainly seemed an unBlair thing to do as i didn't and still don't consider him a warmonger, perhaps he was swayed by something else? we won't know until government papers are released in the future.
All governments face hard desicions at one time or another whether they deal with these issues correctly is debatable but on the whole i believe a government should be judged over the whole of it's term in office and not from isolated events. I have said before that it is a very tough job and you are not going to please all the people all the time. I've moaned about the issues that affect me personally along with others in the past but in the end it's not just about me or any other individual but the best for the country as a whole. Certain pointers get used by the polls when checking performance such as living standards etc and to be honest i havnt noticed a great drop in living standards for myself unlike when i was strugggling to meet the mortgage under the previous government of the tories.

intrested now. Kendor have you any experiance of working the public services recently or is this opinion based on what you have read etc?

not sure which part of my reply you are referring to can you elaborate? i mentioned the state of the nhs handed down from the tories and how it has taken so long understandably to try to repair the damage done is that the bit you are referring to?

kendor you say you are finding your mortgage easier now.
was strugggling to meet the mortgage under the previous government of the tories.
Would you not put this down to your wages increasing in line with inflation plus maybe promotion, whilst your mortgage as remained almost the same?

kendor,
yes it was your bit about the nhs, wondered wht you based it on
