One thing I read was that France wants migrants to apply in France for asylum in the UK. Fair enough, until their application is turned down, then what happens?

Fact is many countries have the same problem with the same basic part hidden background problem. Shear probable numbers if easy routes were created near the sources. Millions of people in camps.

As shown in figure 1, the latest number of applications is 20% lower than the previous peak in 2002 (84,132 applications)
Boats figure in all. In that case the arrivals are generally known. I recently read that the EU has 2,000km of fence. They intend to check road entry far more thoroughly. Should start in Nov.
To date, the European Union has approximately 67,571 km of coastline and 14,647 km of land borders that it shares with twenty-one third countries.

Yes, France is right. If we didn't attract international spongers with 4* hotels, benefits, free health treatment, free dental treatment, Two Tier's amnesty, etc, etc, etc - they wouldn't be in France, in The Channel or over here.

Under international law, anyone has the right to apply for asylum in any country that has signed the 1951 Convention
