Kings coronation bank holiday.

Could have been censorship, could have been pragmatic.
If the UK was a republic and you wanted to bring back the monarchy, would you have denied yourself the right to protest about the system in place?

When they came for mottie/motman, as he was dragged away squealing there were plenty still around p*ssing themselves with laughter (y)
When they came for daddy hater/Ellal, they couldn’t find him. He was too frightened to put his head above the parapet and hid, quaking, like the coward he is behind his cloak of internet anonymity.

There are differences between what (didn't) happen yesterday, and someone protesting about a personal or localised injustice say, or striking.

If the protesters had been allowed to wave their placards, shout, chant, boo , whatever, there could well have been a lot more trouble (let's face it, a predominantly pro-monarchy crowd).

I agree it was a difficult and unusual set of circumstances.

but what do you call a society that is only allowed to protest about what it is approved to protest about. Chinese? N. Korean ? Russian ?

it's that slippery slope. I'm not a monarchy supporter, nor a protestor. But it's very important to allow protests, even if there has to be some temporary extra rules and/or restrictions. Take that right away, and what's next?

Who is to say what is right and what is wrong in our society. The king? Police? Government? Those with the most money ?

Thankfully, not my decision to make.

I completely understand protesters wanting to get most effect from their efforts (pointless shouting where no one hears), but like I said, I'm also pragmatic.
Whatever percentage want rid of the monarchy, I'd guarantee the protesters yesterday were nowhere near that.
Ergo, an annoyance at best to the vast majority present.

Anonymity?

If protocols allow, please name the place and the time and then repeat that sh*t to my face...

You won't because you'd p*ss your panties within seconds!

Err, yes. Internet anonymity. Are you disputing that?

Ok. Outside your local vegan restaurant. 7.00 next Wednesday night. How will I know it’s you? Got a picture or a name - how will I know you - you already know what I look like. Oh, and the address will be handy too. You can send it to me privately if you want it to remain anonymous.

I think the police removed them for their own safety. Had they had tried to disrupt the proceedings, I think the crowd would taken control and would have pulled them to pieces.

The problem is that the protesters had liaised with the police and agreed the where and when. They might not be so keen to tell them next time following yesterdays saga.

I went to Tokyo on a naval vessel to be met by Japanese anti nuclear protestors behind barriers, waving flags, holding placards and chanting slogans. After 5 minutes the senior policeman of the 3 in attendance blew his whistle and told them to pack up and go home. Which they all did. Had their protest, made their point, made newspaper and tv headlines then went about their day as did we.
