Kings coronation bank holiday.

Civilised? Like the US you mean?

Where currently, one of their ex-presidents is on trail having been accused of rape and tried his best to reverse the legitimate election result? Or do you mean those presidents that murder the opposition and stay in power for decades, regardless?
Yep, bogeyman arguments as ever. Lots of countries have presidents, you don't hear scare stories as they get voted in then get on with their job.

Judging our potential options based on a nutjob former colony where a gun is a necessity isn't very relevant.

Protests have been in the news a lot in the past few years. How the authorities deal with these protests is revealing, as you say. The BLM ones in London and Bristol were allowed to continue to and beyond the point of criminal damage, and were featured in all MSM news programmes. Stop Oil protesters are left to block the roads unmolested. There were several anti-lockdown protests, all of which were stopped by the police and kept out of the news.
It wasn't an accident that those protestors were allowed to carry on, despite them breaking several existing laws that could have been used to stop them. Their cause wasn't relevant, the fact that they were disrupting and annoying the public was the reason they were allowed and encouraged to do it. They wanted those shots of an ambulance being held up by them. This was the justification needed to justify banning pretty much all forms of protests, as has now been achieved. All while being cheered on by the tabloid-reading muppets who fall for this nonsense.

Which former colony (or otherwise) would you like our Replublic to be modelled on?
Nosey we all know what country most GD posters want Britain modelled on: communist Russia.

And you're nearly there!

Perhaps we could do what almost every other civilised modern country does, and just vote for a president.

Are you trying to say that monarchy is based on civility?

Nice to see that the royal mafia, having previously hijacked the religious cause, have now recognised that religion is dying out. So they needed a new popular positive thing to slap their brand onto. They are now attempting to associate themselves with all volunteering. Basically if you do anything good for anyone else it's implied that it's because they told you to.

It's all pretty clever psychological manipulation of the largely brainless masses.

Meanwhile they do nothing for anyone else and steal money from the poor, while sitting on a massive fortune and paying next to no tax.

Meanwhile people think all this is somehow OK. Stockholm Syndrome in action.

Lots of notable omissions there. The truth, the partial truth and nothing but the worst examples you can think of.

Off the top of my head, you conveniently omitted France and Germany.

Almost all modern countries elect their leaders, we're one of the few weirdo exceptions, and we're definitely in the bad bunch, outside of the list of democracies.

The Royals have been involved with charities and voluntary organisations for as long as I can remember, why do you say it's a recent development?, when did it start?

Over 3000 organisations enjoy the patronage of the Royal Family.

Queen Mary was a patron of charitable works, sending food parcels and those xmas tins to troops in 1914. I'm fairly sure Queen Vic had her hand in a few good causes, so the modern viewpoint to those charitable deeds could be traced to her...but it's been a thing for monarchy for centuries to give alms to the poor on feast days.
