Putin, arse, elbow

Branson's idea doesn't seem to have got traction.
https://www.virgin.com/branson-fami...ness-must-end-reliance-on-russian-oil-and-gas

Reported a few days ago, he says various things, inlcuding to drop all the speed limits for a year or two, to reduce oil consumption, thus reducing the demand and price of oil and therefore money to Pootin.
Not the dumbest of ideas on the face of it, though with trucks and ships excluded, maybe not so effective.
He also said turn your thermostat down 1°. If we'd done that every time someone suggested it in the past few years, they'd be set at -3.
Can't see the likes of Richard Branson freezing his nuts off for UKraine.

And have been shelling the rest of Ukraine for the same time. It's not as if the Russian funded and armed insurrectionists are blameless.

Unless you're Vinty.
Are they any different from the American funded and armed insurrectionists in somewhere like Kosovo.

both being cut because GazProm has changed the terms of the contracts to force prepayments, and in Roubles.
both claim they have alternative suppliers so homes shouldn't go short.

There is some sort of bank arrangement to get around that. Pay in what ever to a bank. They change to rubles I assume by buying them and then transfer to another bank. Putin did that to push the ruble value up again.

It seems the Hungarian president recently re elected will just continue as usual. The campaign against him depicted him as Putin's friend.

It has turned out that the UK can not end use immediately even with as little we bought from that source. Maybe more down to availability. Usage of Russian gas is pretty wide spread. Figures from 2008 but still likely to be an indication.

I came across comments that it will be tricky to replace. It seemed to be based on USA limitations on exports etc. Maybe others too. More gas means more facilities to produce it especially liquid. Production also ideally needs to be green. It doesn't liquefy itself.

Geopolitics. A lot depends on how predictable this war was. Crimea was pretty obvious - a base for a fleet. The referendum probably wasn't faked. Russia did lease the base. Also I believe one in Syria - a place messed up by both powers which is why Assad is still there. I've always wondered if there would have been no towers if Russia had been left alone in Afghanistan. Pundits at the time said it was a big mistake to back Bin Laden. ;) I'm not relating him to Zelensky.

Sorry just a minute...

The Russian government has accused the UK of "provoking" Ukraine into attacking Russian territory.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Unreal. So invading and attacking and killing innocent Ukranian people doesn't warrant retalliation by Ukranians. Oh that's right we are having a good talk with the the Ukranians and ordering them to stand up for themselves right? Oh Putin do you mean attaching Ukraine is ok and justified oh that's UN article 51 isn't it.

Did the Americas give them tanks and shoot down an airliner for them
The Americans don't need proxies to shoot down civilian airliners.
They are quite capable of doing that themselves.

Why are American actions that lead to massive civilian causalities always referred to as tragedies but when other countries make the same mistake they are referred to as atrocities.

Not any more for Poland and Bulgaria which is why the gas has been turned off. The warmonger is getting desperate...

9/11 is an example of the law of unintended consequences.
The Americans had fanned the flames of Islamic fundamentalism in order to use people like Bin Laden as proxies in their Geopolitical competition with Russia.
When Bin Laden and his fundamentalists finally forced the Russians out of Afghanistan, the Americans lost interest in them and left them to their own device's.
This lead to these fundamentalists spreading their ideology through force,
Strangely enough, the Americans didn't seem to realise or care about the dangerous monster they had helped create until it was too late.
conflict with the Christian west was inevitable and 9/11 was the result.

Putin feels that he does not have enough enemies, so tries to create some more.

Pootin and his bum boys are so embarrassed about how bad their army is

That's what we are told. I hope it's correct but bear in mind it is what we are being told and propaganda is flying about all over the place. In terms of fighting and control Russia's plot does seem to the thickening now. The "prelude". Well it started so we are told capturing all of Ukraine. Never been any sign of that. Paratroopers initially - actually an attempt to take an airport that didn't work out. Capture Kyiv - I suspect a true military analyst would say no chance with the troops they had there unless Ukraine decided to give up. They could flatten the place but didn't. The convoy - it moved and went where ever it did eventually. Bit of a miracle given reports but it did. Latest is that analysts are amazed that Russia hasn't advanced out of Donetsk, controlled by Donbas insurgents - well they were busy elsewhere. It sounds like they are now. They were involved at the Mariupol end of things. That looks to be done and dusted now apart from a rather small part. NATO thinks Ukraine needs better kit. They don't see it as being over either.

Vinty I suspect is pointing out the pots calling the kettles black aspects of it all. There is some truth in that but fact - according to law a country should not invade another.

Poland is the most aggressive sounding E European country. No need to do more to make their president more of a Putin enemy. He argues that after Ukraine it will be him. He's 100% sure of it.

nations that spent 50 years under Russian occupation are unsurprisingly desperate to prevent a recurrence.

there are a lot of them.
