Putin, arse, elbow

If the Russians withdrew tomorrow, the underlying problems which make Ukraine unstable would still remain.
Biden and the EU don't care about Ukraine, its just another proxy war against a geopolitical opponent.
Dozy Joe Biden has admitted that Russia is the real target, he has called for regime change in Russia and war in Ukraine will continue until this geopolitical aim is achieved.

Of course it is and that's how it should be. Defeating Russia should be a top priority for the West.

America are always going to take advantage of a situation where they can defeat the Russians without losing any of their own troops.

Russians / Putin are busy organising there 9th May parade

some reports suggest that a military parade will take part in
Mariupol ???

some streets are being cleared of rubble and un-exploded munitions ????

Its is pointless because the Ukranians are not a homogeneous people , the country was created by the Soviets who cobbled together different ethnicities to create an artificial state, this worked ok while Ukraine was part of a communist empire.

Do you agree with this then?

It is pointless because the Northern Irish are not a homogeneous people, the country was created by the British who cobbled together different ethnicities to create an artificial state, this worked ok while Northern Ireland was part of the British Empire.

Plenty of time to get some drones carefully set up, then? There is also talk of using Ukraine captives dressed up as POWs - human shields?
Sick.

There's footage of an easily-identifiable Azov Ukraine soldier captured, being told he'd be treated with respect as a POW.
Then he's found killed 5 days later, large wound in the back of the head.

Not much evidence I've seen so far of large amounts of modern western arms being "in theatre". The US M777 howitzers are good, but they only have enough for about 1 and a half battalions.
US/UK etc Javelin anti tank missiles are major, and keeping heads down. They're like the machine guns of WW1! How many they have of their own, newly from the west, coming from the west, I don't have much idea though. They obviously have some, along with the NLAWS we've seen in use, which they didn't have before.
The US and surely others have run their A.T. missile stocks right down , now, and the chips they need, aren't available.....

We hear of some strikes on bridges, railway junctions and fuel supplies in the west of Uk, predictably. Nice big, static targets to stop and delay incoming supplies. There are probably more we don't hear much about.

I imagine there will be sidings full of arms backed up in Poland, Slovakia, Romania, which the Russkies will be keen to hit.

A detail about those - the Javelins are longer because they have two warheads - one to set off the tanks' External Reactive Armour, and the main one to squish at high energy through the unprotected tank armour. They can penetrate 900mm - blimey. Both missiles can hit from the top, where armour is thinner.

These too are apparently effective against the turret-popping Russian tanks: Soviet grenades!!

There's always these:

Like Putin's Russian Empire, you mean.

I the ethnic and cultural faultlines that were suppressed by hardline communist rule began to reappear.

This phenomenon isn't uncommon when empires breakup

yep, that's the Russian Empire.

Ruthlessly ruled by Tsar Vlad the First.

https://orbitaltoday.com/2022/04/28...-the-world-space-and-rocket-building-history/

On 12th April, the world traditionally celebrates Cosmonautics Day, and Ukrainian space history plays a part in this celebration. It was on this day in 1961 that the first man, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, went into space. The event became the starting point for a great space race between the two superpowers – the Soviet Union and the USA, in which the Russians, despite having a head start, eventually lost. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, its successor Russia could no longer stand alone against the powerful US Space machine. Ukraine, which together with independence also inherited from the USSR the fourth largest aerospace industry in the world, played a significant role in this. And although Russia still considers itself a space leader, history has shown that without Ukrainian aerospace companies, scientists, and engineers, Russia cannot even claim third place.

The Russians were doing that for the UN the other day before the coaches went in. Ukraine reckon they will be doing something similar for 2 years - munitions and mines.

Pretty typical from a war as the places aren't safe until it's all cleared up.

So pass. God may know.

yes if you might have a parade it’s best to have a clear up
Looks good on a video link to the Moscow parade which won’t be live ) time delay for obvious reasons )

There was just a report of them rehearsing the usual parade in Moscow. It wouldn't surprise me. BBC without comment other than they are rehearsing. No idea where the clip came from.

A few weeks back..

The Russian president described a plan to storm the Azovstal steelworks as “impractical” and called instead for Russian troops to blockade the area “so that a fly can’t get through”.

Nobhead, he cant seem to make his mind up.

Are Putins days numbered
( getting kicked out in a coup)

Several strategic blunders

Assuming the invasion would be over in a week ?

not realising the amount of assistance the west would give Ukraine ?

potentially ruining the Russian economy ?

Disquiet with in the ruling elite ???

Putin wont be plotting the methods used in the war, He has people to do that just as all countries do.

C4's lady thinks that some Ukrainians have been trained to use certain western weapons in Hungary or Poland. If complex stuff she thinks the Big Men From Texas will appear to train further within Ukraine. Contractors as seen in numbers in other countries where wars have occurred, usually ex military. Her name for them ;) pretty good one really.

This sort of thing is being mentioned for Ukraine at some point
The Marshall Plan, also known as the European Recovery Program, was a U.S. program providing aid to Western Europe following the devastation of World War II. It was enacted in 1948 and provided more than $15 billion to help finance rebuilding efforts on the continent.

I suspect the cost will be rather a lot more than that these days.

Marshall plan was a way to keep watch for commies, it wasn't huge financially compared with the GDPs of the countries it affected.

Russians have pulled back/been pushed back from Kherson, as they said would happen.
Otherwise not a lot. The odd village here or there.

Some of the west's arms have been blown up, some have been captured and some of it can be used against the UA. No idea if the guys in white hats are getting much.

Both sides are short of equipment. It seems unlikely the Russians are going to manage to feed a supply line much further west, unless they can use Transnistria as a base.

Marshall plan was a way to keep watch for commies

to kickstart growth, recovery and peaceful prosperity in the war-shattered countries

and to avoid the suffering, poverty and resentement caused by the Treaty of Versailles that fuelled the resumption of WWI after scarcely a 20 year pause.
