Putin, arse, elbow

I don't understand why there are no UN observers and peace keepers on the ground? Clearly many crimes are being committed.
The UN has been in when it could be arranged - Mariupol. The team leader didn't back off when 2 mortars exploded when he arrived. I do suspect I know who let those off and why.

I'd guess that you mean in the same style as Yugoslavia. Bad guys as seen at the time probably hit rather hard first before any boots on the ground. Some press reporters have been killed in Ukraine. A problem that can arise just from being near to the action.

War crimes. Yes but I suspect Russia could justify what they have been doing at times but not the definite ones such as the pair that wanted a change of clothes and a drink and similar and other incidents with civilians. Some think Russia is nuts denighing these. They should do what Ukraine did with one - it will be investigated.

There are some observers in the region but not many. Peacekeepers aren't even in the conversation, they get sent in only when the major powers involved agree to it. Plus who could you send? India perhaps?

Who wants peace?
Both sides want to move forwards.

The R's are doing so, and the U's still have some wishful hopes about the arrival of more weapons. Those may come to not much, or just bring more arms from Russia.

LOL Nice to see you still have the same usual opinion when there is no sign of any breaking. Other parts of the world far more likely.

Lol nice to see you still have the same usual opinion ( predictable )

The fact you cannot see that fractures will occur in the alliance is your problem

And it will be the usual suspects

pro-Russian takeover of the government.
The "elected" government was "sort of" pro Russian. I say sort of as it appears money was on offer and talk about the EU etc.. There appeared to be a choice. Past that it's hard to get at facts. There are animations around on trouble spots as they developed. It appears that the Russian Crimea port was leased or something along that lines and housed Russia's black sea fleet.

Who wants peace?
Good question. I am not going to comment on some aspects of that.

Anyway there are 2 sides that will not agree. That means no end in sight unless for some reason one side has to give up. Ukraine is effectively mobilised as far as soldiers are concerned. The war is not 2 sides meeting in open fields.

There was an interesting spot on C4 concerning the food problem. It would appear Russia is moving some grain to Turkey for export to the east. Even Ukraine grain. Looked at flatly Russia helping with this area does make sense.

Its gone too far for Ukraine to concede significant territory. They know if they do, that will just be today's deal and tomorrow they will want more. They will have to fight to the end or to distraction. They are hoping Putin will find some other project or struggle to maintain power without all the money flowing in. Are we are aware of any demands made by Russia to Ukraine other than don't join the EU or NATO?

Yes sort of. Russian speakers and those that favour being Russian. Used as an excuse but there is a problem in that area and it relates to one of Russia's demands - some autonomy. Ukraine have an entirely different idea about both language and autonomy. Maybe compare it with Wales. The Welsh language is used and probably more widely than you realise. It's part of their identity.

Peace keepers. Yugoslavia. They found that they had to become peace enforcers and not really set up for that. That may well put them off getting involved in any conflict where this may happen.

IMO the the big ?? Threat to world peace will be when the Chinese decide to take Taiwan
That is likely to be in the next decade ????

You mean the mutual paranoia between USA, Russia and China especially in the influence areas as they would have problems conquering each other?

Biden made ambiguous noises about Taiwan and support that might be taken as boots on the ground - very quickly retracted. So if it happens probably another proxy war which in some ways is what Ukraine is. "Some ways" ?????

No

I mean china’s intention to take over control of Taiwan

Really - I've told you what the USA think they would do if China did it by force. The first part explains why it would be difficult to do anything else.

Please yer self Transam gives not a jot about you opinion or speculation

Oh we''ll have a full blown nuclear war over a little island instead? There is another option but rather dubious.
