Putin, arse, elbow

Sky News is showing satellite pics of destroyed Russian fighter/bombers following recent explosions in Crimea. Reports suggest Ukrainian special forces, whilst Putin is blaming another 'local accident'. They seem to be rather common after the 'accident' which sunk the Russian flagship Moskva.:eek:

Reports are emerging that Russia's economy is in an awful state

They have stopped publishing a lot of official statistics to hide the evidence.

There is a shortage of trucks, not just the military ones

Imported spares are being smuggled in, but in insufficient quantity.

Tyres used by the army are failing early due to poor quality

Civilian airliners, especially those seized from foreign companies, are being cannibalised for parts.

A high proportion of the casualties are "non-Russians" and minority ethnic groups whose regiments are being thrown into the front line to do the dirtiest work.
Where's that from?

Looking through several pages of google hits, it's the right wing US newspapers and UK junk press trotting out most of the anecdotes and hearsay about Russia. Most of the rest say it's far worse for Ukraine. NSS!. A high proportion of them say that the USA is "doomed".
Russian press is all junk.

Propaganda, exaggerated BS, anecdotes. How much of it matters anyway, compared with the mess many NATO countries are in?
What if Putin feels he's losing? I'd expect him to claim something about US attacks, and escalate by getting his bigger toys out.

A moderate article is here https://www.dw.com/en/yale-study-shows-sanctions-are-crippling-russias-economy/a-62623738.

Russian economy is suffering very clearly, https://tradingeconomics.com/russia/inflation-cpi
Inflation is up particularly in the last few months, around 16%, and industrial output is dropping.

A recent article in the “I”’ detailed the problem that the Russian economy is facing

Putin weaponising gas is likely to back fire on him

It may well cause chaos in the west but it will cause massive damage long term to the Russian economy

Who says he is. More of a theory that he might. Fact is Germany like many countries are currently topping up reserves. Having resevres is pretty standard practice to even out the supply rates needed throughout the year. :( Not the UK though. Our capacity was run down rather than being maintained.

I say

Putin will be cutting off gas by Christmas no doubt about it

Hungary may get a dispensation

Plus Germany do not have the infrastructure to accept the frozen type gas imports

Yes 16 years of Merkel and insufficient infrastructure

It is happening now. Do you think this is normal?

Ultimately Putin weaponising his gas will back fire

Europe / EU have woken up to the fact

And the big push is for alternatives to Russian gas

In the next few years there will be no (?) European market for Russian energy or it will be very small ???

He is flogging to India and China at a massively discounted price

Germans are not going to be doing to good
They currently reckon they can get through the winter - just. It will be a while before they get to max usage levels.

More coal consumption on the agenda???
They came up with a reason for that recently. They haven't been burning German brown coal for a long time. They have been using much better quality from Russia. That source is being switched.

The reason for going this way - who can guess correctly? It is interesting.

Currently
In 2021 renewable energy sources produced more electricity than all fossil fuels (coal, gas, oil) together and now provide 41.1 percent of German electricity demand.

They are going for 60% but fully realise the storage implications. Actually bearing it all in mind they will need loads more than that >>>100% They do seem to be more reactive than the UK gov is so be interesting to see how it goes. They reacted to fuel prices for the public helpfully very rapidly.

Most of the rest say it's far worse for Ukraine.

I find it totally unsurprising that a country which has been invaded, bombed, shelled, and its ports, towns, factories and power stations seized, is having a bad time.
