Putin, arse, elbow

I say

Putin will be cutting off gas by Christmas no doubt about it

Hungary may get a dispensation

Plus Germany do not have the infrastructure to accept the frozen type gas imports

Yes 16 years of Merkel and insufficient infrastructure

We could set up a coal ferrying service for them, using Lancaster bombers.

I find it totally unsurprising that a country which has been invaded, bombed, shelled, and its ports, towns, factories and power stations seized, is having a bad time.
Nobody much minds whether you're surprised. I was reporting on the dichotomy between commentators.

Either you fail to understand, or choose to misunderstand just so you can make a captious comment because you feel the need to say something.
We do see the pattern repeat.

Do you feel like you are in a country at war?

please give examples of this "more"
You did it again, JD.
Misunderstood, I mean , in case you "misunderstand" that.

Looks like more of the regular late night trolling round....

The big 'we' will cope as a small gesture in supporting Ukraine's efforts to defend itself.
This is true, but it is still hurting us more.
Ukraine itself is far worse off than any country in the west.

The big we - or some of it.
The war against Ukraine and sanctions on Russia are hitting economies around the globe, with emerging market and developing countries in the Europe and Central Asia region expected to bear the brunt, says the World Bank’s latest Economic Update for the region, released today.
The region’s economy is now forecast to shrink by 4.1 percent this year, compared with the pre-war forecast of 3 percent growth, as the economic shocks from the war compound the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. This would be the second contraction in as many years, and twice as large as the pandemic-induced contraction in 2020.

There isn't much about on the current state of Ukraine. Debt problems mentioned and very high base rates to try and control inflation. The money makret expects this style of reaction and can cause grief if it's not followed. Gov running costs are being provided by various in the west. Some of these have been mentioned as debt - Germany objecting as no way can they repay. Also some argument from the same about their prpoportion as they have also helped through the world bank.

Us and Europe. Fact is full effects aren't here yet. As a for instance you may have heard that s o d s law could result in blackouts being experienced here in Jan. There is a very wide range of price increases in a number of areas. These always take to time to feed through.

The future - looks like a scramble for lng. I wonder what that will do to prices as more and more facilities are added to cope with it. If there is more in the N Sea why aren't Sunak and Truss out looking for it. Boris is crowing about nuke builds - why have they taken so long to get going since the last intention failed. Japan decided there wasn't enough money in it so pulled out.

This is true, but it is still hurting us more.

so what do you mean?

I cannot see that Russia, the nation or its citizens, are "hurting" less than UK or its citizens.

justin is suggesting he knows what you meant.

but what did you mean?

Liquid Natural Gas.

Spain are offering to help their comrades in Europe by building extra pipelines.

"Spain says gas link to wider EU could be ready within months Pipeline from Iberian peninsula to France proposed in effort to wean Europe off Russian gas"

FT.com

"The loss of Russian supplies, which met 40 per cent of EU demand before the invasion, has forced Europe to rely more heavily on imported cargos of seaborne liquefied natural gas. But much of Europe’s LNG import capacity lies on the Iberian peninsula, which is viewed in the industry as a gas “island” as there is limited pipeline capacity connecting it to northern Europe.

German chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Thursday that he had discussed a new pipeline with the leaders of Spain, Portugal and France and European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen. He added that there would also be “other connections between north Africa and Europe that will help us to diversify our [energy] supply”.

Actually more lng ports are being looked at as well. We now have 3. A 2nd one sprang up in Wales. No idea how long the pipeline off it is but didn't appear to take all that long to dig a rather large trench. Actually the 2 are so close they may as well be one ;) with a bit of a gap in between.

I'm no expert on artillary, but this doesn't look right:

Its a captured Russian cannon. They have a reputation of exploding, rather than firing, especially when used too much.
There are also picture of blown cannons, as they have been used beyond their safe usage.
