"Overall prices rose by 2.2% in the year to July, slightly above the Bank of England’s target of 2% where the rate had been since May"

Yeah, as you say 2% to the end of May. Who's been in power since July 4th? What were the figures at the end of July? Don’t bother, I’ll tell you. 2.2% Who's responsible for that? Labour.

Yet another own goal from the lying Notch. :ROFLMAO:

Notch. When in a hole…….
I’ll make it easy for you. Just concentrate on the big red words, in order.

Next UK inflation figures

In the UK, the main measure of inflation is the Consumer Prices Index. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) releases this once a month.

The first seven inflation readings of the year (covering January, February, March, April, May, June and July) were released on 14 February, 20 March, 17 April, 22 May, 19 June, 17 July and 14 August. These are the dates for the rest of 2024:

  • 18 September (covering August)
  • 16 October (covering September)
  • 20 November (covering October)
  • 18 December (covering November)
The final inflation reading for 2024 (covering December) will be released early in the new year on 15 January 2025.

poor Mottie ficker than the fickest mince

the figure you are quoting is for the last 12 month period -11months of which was with the muppet govt

if you want the monthly figure for July:

"On a monthly basis, CPI fell by 0.2% in July 2024 "

if you want the monthly figure for July:
We have the figure for July, you whelk! 'To' July INCLUDES July. At least you’re admitting I’ve taught you something even if it is the way 'to' is used in producing inflation figures. For the past year under what you call a "muppet" government, inflation had been going down. What sort of government does it make Labour now that it’s gone up from the day they were voted in?

"Overall prices rose by 2.2% in the year to July, slightly above the Bank of England’s target of 2% where the rate had been since May"

Conservatives were in power then
So, was 2.0% then went to 2.2%. That’s a rise in prices. Rise. Upwards, not downwards.

So, was 2.0% then went to 2.2%. That’s a rise in prices. Rise. Upwards, not downwards.
  • The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 2.2% in the 12 months to July 2024, up from 2.0% in June 2024.
  • On a monthly basis, CPI fell by 0.2% in July 2024, compared with a fall of 0.4% in July 2023.

The first is a figure for 12 months up to and including July. Thus it's a figure based on 12 months.
The second figure is for 1 month, and refers only to July.

That’s a rise in prices. Rise. Upwards, not downwards.
Up when Rishi was in charge, then in July,

"On a monthly basis, CPI fell by 0.2% in July 2024, compared with a fall of 0.4% in July 2023. "

Up when Rishi was in charge, then in July,

"On a monthly basis, CPI fell by 0.2% in July 2024, compared with a fall of 0.4% in July 2023. "
So it fell more in July 23 when the conservatives in power than it did in July 24 when Labour was in power.
