Rugby world cup.

Heard a funny one earlier.

I think it was Matt Dawson.

When England were playing the NZ in the late nineties / early two thousands, MD said they were just gawping at the mountains that were the All Blacks.

Just as they were about to kick off, the ref said "May the best team win!"

To which, Jason Leonard said "I do hope not!" :D

Catches win matches. Let's hope France sort that out second half.

England wont live with that pace! Wow, real end to end stuff.
I seem to recall the australian press said 'is that all you've got' in 2003...

Unlike those who continue to run down England, I reckon there may be a sporting success to come!

So that's what rugby from the future looks like. o_O

A couple of handling errors in the first half let the 'boks back in and despite having the extra man France failed to take advantage; only scoring a penalty when they had several chances to score more. Another streak falls as the French lose their first home game in 18. It's a curse.
I was relieved to see the 'Niners and Eagles lose the first game of the NFL season last night. Get it over with early...then win when it really matters.

England better order extra weetabix this week: they're gonna need all the help they can get.:cautious:

Wonder if Tom Currys feeling a bit ****ed off lately.
Start of the tournament he gets a red card and a three match ban, I don't know if there's been more red cards issued but it doesn't seem like it.
Players safety my ar*e.

Would've made a big diff. if Etzebeth had been sent off last night - should he have gone?

Smith looked like wounded soldier after the fijians had finished with him, there player was another who didn't get a red card.
It looks to me they made a rod for their own back with the head contact rule and seem to have rowed back a bit making for a more even contest and lost time discussing whether is it or isn't it.
All in all a dogs breakfast.
Anybody getting a red now will be missing the final.

Made me larff to see three Fijians 'escorting' Courtney Laws off the pitch like an oversized toddler being put to bed without any supper. :giggle:

I can only think Etzebeth got a yellow instead, because the contact was slight and he pulled back in time to avoid a full on hit.

Hard on La Belle France but they had good chances and made crucial errors. The 'boks defended as a team and made good substitutions at exactly the right time.

“There’s a lot of disappointment and frustration,”said the France captain. “When we watch the match again, there are probably things that will make us even more frustrated. “I don’t want to be a bad loser and moan about the refereeing. But I am not sure the level of refereeing was up to what was at stake today … [But] that doesn’t take anything away from the South Africans. They played a great game.”

He doesn't want to be a bad loser - but...

It must hurt real bad, only one point in it. A drop goal would've been enough but they couldn't get close enough. Either one of 'em were good enough to win the tournament, too.
Now it's odds on another Southern Hemisphere final. :(

I am not running down England just making an observation. I have supported England rugby for over 60 years so don't need any lessons from you.

I will be supporting England in the semi final but feel that they have a mountain to climb. I am also a Leicester Tigers supporter so I am also supporting the whole of the coaching team who are all ex Tigers coaches.
