I don't see trump standing up to him. Pushing for a ceasefire maybe, but not standing up to him like the west has helped Ukraine do.

I would say if he achieves an end to the war by the 20th feb (that gives him a month) then he would have kept his promise.
I really can't imagine him bending over and touching his toes for Putin, Trump is not that sort of bloke. Putin absolutely needs to concede, and if we have to lift sanctions and let Russia back into the world economy, then may be that would be better. When we are all trading each other then there is less chance of conflict.
As much as I didn't want trump to win, I am now hoping he proves us all wrong and achieves greatness, and I am going to offer him my support, we need him to do well.

And what do you suggest would stop Trump from getting in touch with Putin over the next month or so and agreeing on what to do on January the 21st - do you know of some rule that wold prevent him planing his presidency ?
