Ukraine counter offensive

Right, so you are saying the £1bn he's talking about won't be spent on weapons going to Ukraine. Rather, someone, somewhere, will determine what £1bn of existing is (in terms of what UKR want) and take that from UK forces?

So, until suppliers can replenish those 'donations', UK armed forces are 'down' £1bn worth of weapons?
More or less yes, the £1bn may include some newly produced equipment, but will take months at least, upto now nearly all supplies have been taken from the donor countries armed forces direct ,most defence companies don't have stock at hand, all work is done to individual contracts, at the moment NATO is down to the bare bones, luckily russia is too, hope China are too busy with Covid.

Did I hear China aren’t too happy with Russia.

As you can probably tell, I know nothing about the arms industry. I saw the response to the question and drew the wrong conclusion.

Every day is a school day. Thanks for clarifying

Makes me think of those boxes of German ammunition (was it ammo, I forget now) they were all covered in mould and unusable.
They sent 2700 Strela anti aircraft missiles, which they inherited from the East german army, about 40 years old, many were unusable. i'm surprised at the lack of supplies( artillery shells/MLRS rockets etc) many European Countries have, us included, it's like we have ignored the basics of warfare, think now would be a good time to invest in defence companys, as i see a lot of orders coming their way.

Funny how LH Martin, NGC and BAE systems stock jumped up around the time of the invasion. I suspect you missed the boat, by about 9 months.

India too, Modi told putin that now was not a time for war, i watch some clips of russian political programmes, and an increasing amount of guests are speaking out against the war, they can't afford the war to carry on indefinite, Europe will find alternative energy supplies, and China won't be stupid enough to become reliant on russia for oil/gas like Germany, unless on their terms and prices.

The French are and will
Always be the loose cannons in this Ukranian conflict

The scoundrels were supplieing tech kit to the Russians for upgrading there tanks

Mind you said kit did not or dies appear to be up to snuff ?

That is entirely different; we have a new monarch, which is a change of something, rather than merely a change of the name of something .
Try and be a bit more adaptable. If you can change your decades in the making national anthem on a sixpence, then you can do anything if you try. Same mind-set. (y)

I visited what used used to be called the 'Mosquito Museum earlier this week, it's now called the De Havilland museum. Fascinating company, grew up at Hatfield Airfield building wooden byplanes, went on to build racing planes and the the versatile, all wooden, Mosquito fighter/bomber, After the war built the first commercial jetliner, the Comet (and lots of great innovations in between). Eventually got taken over by Hawker Siddelly after that, eventually became British Aerospace. So they went from building wooden by planes to nuclear submarines. Cool.

We're not. Sometime the news celebrates our greatness, sometimes it highlights the weakness of France. Just coincidence I Guess.
...and the docile reliance of the UK military on foreigners, to bail us out.
