Who wants to bet if any Leopard IIs will be announced today.

Poland has said they're considering shipping the tanks with or without permission. Germany is reportedly saying they'll send and authorise the sending of Leopards if the US says they'll send Abrams.

Also, I don't think anyone's mentioned were sending 30 AS90s, which is our variant of the Krab SPGs that are already in use. They're a bit dated but still very good kit.

AlJazz' interviewed an old chap and his wife in Bakhmut recently. He studied engineering in Moscow, both spoke Russian and relied on Russia for his pension payments until the war prevented him getting the money. Now they live in their basement, collect rainwater in buckets and listen to the rumble of artillery around their home.
It's complicated.

A good book for understanding some of the background and context to this conflict is 'Russia and the Russians' by Geoffrey Hoskins. It was published in 2001 so Putin is barely mentioned. It discusses the attitudes not only of Russians to Ukraine but also ethnic Ukrainian feelings towards Russia.
