The initial take over of various places and the changes also indicate that there may have been. There were riots all over the place. The adoption of Russian also showed similar but the act was rescinded late on. What happened is of more interest to me than Russia interfering in some way and also doing certain things. Those are facts of life. They do these things. Just like the USA deciding some one other than the apparent winner of an election in Venezuela didn't and said some one else did. They may be correct but this is what they did. Hence an embargo on them. Said to have the biggest oil reserves in the world. The Arab states may like releasing oil at a rate that suites their reserves. It sets how long they will last. Price probably figures too.

Russian speakers history in Ukraine predates by centuries the creation of modern Ukraine, so therefor they can't be considered as some sort of alien group who have to adapt to culture of the country they live in.
It isn't only Russians who are being targeted for what could be described as cultural and linguistic genocide.
Romanians and Hungerians are also on the list, so much so, that the Hungerian government has threatened to block any application for EU membership by Ukraine.

They didn't. They do want all Ukrainians to be able to speak or at least understand the language which is spoken in central and eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian speakers are generally fluent in Russian, but that is s one way street. This is in some ways comparable to say, Belgium where the government want Flemish speakers to learn French (they do) and the French speakers to learn Flemish (most don't think they need to because the Flemish speakers all speak French...)
BTW Zelensky is a Russian speaker, but he is also fluent in Ukrainian
