And we were four corners of the world.

They would have sailed up the Thames, headed North and attacked Essex. Once that quickly fell the rest would have been easy. Only those North of Watford would have resisted.

Blighty was on her arse. Not an easy invasion no, but doable.

Not really. The Germans being able to cross the channel in force, was an impossible dream of Hitler - they were on a high and thought it possible. We had a very capable Royal Navy, the Germans had almost none, mostly barges in which to risk making the crossing, they would have really struggled to get heavy equipment across, under fire. The RAF remained strong and capable and was becoming even stronger when the invasion was planned to take place. We were far from 'on her arse', far from beaten, just not capable of beating Hitler back in Europe.

So what you are saying is that the UK was geographically secure and that a land invasion (like the Allies did at Normandy) could never have happened? Lucky us. There was boddggddgd thinking is was because we had scared the Gerries off.

Spot on.

could never have happened?

Would have been difficult, one thing we did have was an incredibly strong Navy, Germany didn't.
Believe it or not, Britannia really did rule the waves at that point in time.

Hitlers real target was Russia, he was prepared to let Britain keep her empire as long as Britain allowed him a free hand in Europe.
Communism was the bogyman that had western Europe frightened.
In the period before the war Hitlers Germany was seen as a bulwark against the spread of communism.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, if they had known how things were going to turn out, would British politicians have lavished so much praise on Hitler.
Lloyd George called Hitler the George Washington of Germany, even Churchill said nice things about Hitler.

Churchill did once praise his great nemesis.

"I have always said that if Great Britain were defeated in war I hoped we should find a Hitler to lead us back to our rightful position among the nations." (Winston Churchill in The London Times, Monday, November 7, 1938)
This is why Hitler always believed that he could do a deal with Britain and why his priority was the defeat of Russia and not Britain.
Had Hitler defeated Russia he would probably have turned his attentions to Britain and the empire.

They needed air superiority to cross the channel in force and lost as one way or the other we out produced them with aircraft by a rather surprising amount. This is why the battle of Britain is so famous. Outproducing or clear superiority in the weapons area is how wars are won. Russia had way more effect on the eventual defeat than many realise. Far more tanks and artillery and men than he could hope to cope with coming from their direction as well. He attacked Russia because he needed oil. We actually sent them various gear while they were getting their own manufacture going. The tanks they produced are famous. Rather than nicely grinding off the armour plate welding they just left it alone. The welding was pretty neat anyway. They are also the original source of some very well regarded guns.

Also the first country to mechanise small arms production so that parts were interchangeable rather than needing hand work to put them together as the Tsars had enormous armies in the days when countries needed them.

Hitlers pieces of paper given to Britain and waved about were rubbish. As was the one given to Stalin. He invaded Russia to get at their oil something armies always need. Some Hitler supporters reckon the far east would have been a better choice but then he would have had supply line problems.

Hitler wanted a deal with Britain, so as he did with the Russians he could later renege upon it, once the pressure was off. Hitler and Germany was envious of Britain's empire and desperately wanted to emulate us.
