At that mileage there will be considerable piston and cylinder wear too. I wouldn't spend anything on it, personally.

hi
I understand your advice but this car has been very well maintained and serviced regulary.
The power is all there , no power loss. Many modern cars can remain healthy well above 200 k on the clock and I believe the internals of my cars' engine are fine.
If I did not think the car was in good condition overall I would not be considering replacing the turbo if needs be.

If anything I think it is turbo related and I will do it myself if so. It will cost around £200 and I see it as worth it. I do understand you both entirely and I am not dismissing anything that you guy's so, you gave me advice and I really appreciete it but I feel the car is worth saving if it is only the turbo at fault.

Besides, if I was to sell it with a suspected turbo failing at the beginning stages I would probably have to reduce the price by £300, so it will cost me if I do and cost me if I don't
( I am an honest person I would definately not sell it without informing the buyer )

So far it’s had a new alternator, needs a new drive shaft and bearing, possibly needs a new hub bearing and calliper, piston rings are letting by, sump plug is cross threaded, turbo might be on the way out, and it’s done 200k miles.

Sounds like it’s worn out and you’re planning on spening more money on parts than it would cost you to buy a lower mileage car in better condition.

If you want to sort the turbo - bearing in mind we have no idea just how good (or bad) it is at the moment......take a tip?
Don't buy a second hand one from a breakers - they are junk
It's likely the exhaust manifold will come off too, so get a gasket set
Cheap turbos will be 'remanufactured' but to what standard
Consider having the original one repaired by the likes of turbotechnics - or similar.
John :)
P.S. We are only concerned that you will spend a bomb on this car - which is in fact worth very little - and something major will fail next. Many of us have been down this road!

The car needs a new owner..............................................the scrap yard.

thank you, we are talking civil with each other now and I like it this way, I always apprecieted you guy's from the start I just don't like it when things get criss crossed and then I am made to look the idiot, You guy's are great but you got to understand I am not a mechanic unlike the majority of you guy's, I am a diy newbie who follows youtube tutorials and seeks advice from forums.

I have had this car for about 3 years and 2 months now so I am certainly looking to replace it with a different car within the year or so but the car is still great and although it is a vectra, it is fun to drive.
It's had a replacement alternator, starter motor, its had glow plugs , flywheel and clutch kit, timing belt kit, calipers discs and pads , front and rear drop links, throttle body, drivebelt tensioner and belt, plus a lot more.

To be honest when I do the work on it myself I don't mind half as much as I am paying for experience and learning from it whereas if I was to pay a mechnaic I would feel as though it was money down the drain, Its nice seeing the list of things done knowing I changed them myself ( apart from flywheel, clutch and cambelt kit, starter motor and alternator )

It currently needs front and rear bushings, front discs and pads ( maybe calipers or may just change them anyway at this mileage 200k ) exhaust rattling, needs a few things but nothing major. and it needs whatever is causing the dronnig noise sorted out , according to kwik fit the drive shaft bearing.

As you say it has had many new parts fitted so they can be crossed off the list, a replacement car will likely need the majority of things on that list.
The sump plug may not be cross threaded, it is only a possibility and if os there are a lot of option to go about sorting that out.

The piston rings seems just fine, ''THE CAR IS NOT BURNING OIL '' It has a leak at the outside on the body of throttle body which it might be turbo related but then again it may not be faulty, . nothing has been confirmed yet BUT there is no reason to suspect piston rings, the car is fully serviced and drives excellent with no oil burning at all.

would you like to help other than critisise me, people are being civil atm do not come here stirring things up please

They are clearly not.

Hety mottie

The car drivers excellent, plenty of power and NO OIL BURNING, it has a visible oil leak on throttle body housing which might be turbo related, other than that the car drivers great which leads me to assume it is internally in good condition.

Thank you !!
The best advice here in days !

There is one for my car on ebay now, £180 brand new but says it is the last one. asides this one there are more brand new ones for £240 + snd reconditioned fofr £200 or so.
Yes I think the exhaust manifold comes off I will get gasket set
I understand what you mean about reconned turbos which is why as I will do the job myself I will but it new seeing as won't be paying labour costs.
Thanks for the reccomandatino but I would buy a new turbo.

I know what you mean about throwing money into an older car with high mileage
